Tour: Victoria James' A risk Worth Taking (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Please give a warm welcome back to author, Victoria James!

In my new release, A Risk Worth Taking, my heroine Holly has to take a leave of absence from her job in the city and return to her childhood home.  But she’s coming back to small-town Red River, with a baby, and with an agenda: renovate the house and then sell it and return to her regularly scheduled life in the city.  What she doesn’t count on are the emotions she’s buried deep inside to come bubbling to the surface-the home is filled with lots of bittersweet memories, and the town filled with all the people she’d tried to forget-most notably, Quinn Manning.

Holly Carrington’s Top Ten List for how to get through renovating your childhood home:

10) Lots of Wine (I thought this was appropriate considering the awesome name of this blog).
Really, when you have a baby to care for, a house to renovate, and your teenage crush (who looks even better than you remember) helping you every step of the way, what else can a girl do but have a drink or two at night?

9) Have your BFF on standby.
Holly’s BFF, Claire Holbrook is her long-time partner in crime.  She’s been her accomplice during their teen-stalking years and knows every last detail of Holly’s life.  She would also do anything for Holly-including giving her a little tough-love and telling her to stop denying her feelings.

8) The local senior town gossip.
When the town gossip really has the best of intentions, it may work in your favour-and push you to make a decision that you might not have made without being forced to.

7) Lots of tissues-the tears are inevitable when you’re renovating your childhood home.
The people you loved are gone, and you’re left with only the house and the memories.

6) A noise/sound machine.
How else is the baby going to sleep during the racket?

5) Mouse traps.
Sadly, even the finest homes are subject to a mouse invasion-especially when the house hasn’t been lived in for ten years.

4) Did I say wine?

3) Your iPhone.
You still have to stay in touch with your employer back in the city-after all, you’re leaving town once this reno is done!An adorable baby that you grow to love more every day.  Babies have that way of making you tired-and making you slow down and enjoy the everyday miracles.

2) An adorable baby that you grow to love more every day.
Babies have that way of making you tired-and making you slow down and enjoy the everyday miracles.

1) Quinn Manning.
Well, he is the adolescent crush turned man-of-your-dreams.  He bails you out of hot water, makes you realize that you have the strength to love again, and makes you melt whenever he walks into the room.

Thank you so much for having me back on your blog, Crystal!

What about you?  What must-have items or people would you need in order to handle a full house renovation?
