Tour: Katee Robert's Chasing Mrs. Right (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Today I would like to give a warm welcome to one of my favorite Brazen authors, Katee Robert!

The Sophomore Slump.  We’ve all heard of it. We all dread it. It can mean different things – you’re second book out, the second book in you series – but it’s a very real scary thing for authors everywhere. Okay, maybe not. Maybe it’s just me.

I went into the first book in my Come Undone series all bright eyed and bushy tailed. It was the first in a lot of ways—my first Brazen, the first time I plotted out a book from beginning to end, the first time I wrote a heroine who was actually kind of a good girl. It was all new and brilliant and I rushed through the first draft as if I were on a bender, waking up two weeks later and going “What the hell did I just write?”

And then… People liked it. A lot. Suddenly this little book is soaring up the charts and bypassing every point where I said, “No way THIS will happen.” Except it did. It surprised everyone, me most of all. And it was awesome and scary and fun.

Then it came time to write the second book. I will admit, I got too much inside my own head. I bit off more than I could chew, and I shot myself in the foot more times than I care to count. There were days when I was pretty sure I was a total hack and the belief I could even string two words together was questionable at best.

Eventually, I went back to the drawing board altogether and started fresh.A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into Chasing Mrs. Right. Because my team and I refused to put out anything less than the best, and it was hard work (I know you’re laughing at me—writing books is hard work, Katee, DUH. To that I say—yes, yes it is).

But I’ll tell you a secret. I love Ian’s book all the more because of it. He has a depth that we didn’t really see in Gabe (though I love Gabe like a love song). He’s tortured and stubborn and has some serious hurdles to overcome. Roxanne isn’t much better (can we say commitment-phobe?). They are damaged and hilarious and I hope you enjoy this book as much as I do.

Blurb:
Roxanne Stokes doesn’t believe in love. She does, however, believe in the sexy-as-sin stranger who literally knocks her off her feet in front of a nightclub. The chemistry sparking between them takes her breath away, and she’ll do anything to ease the pain in his eyes…until she realizes the handsome stranger is her best friend’s older brother who’s just come home from war.Ian Walser had no idea the gorgeous woman he slept with the night of his homecoming party was his little sister’s best friend—or that she’d be gone before morning. Roxanne’s touch soothes him in a way nothing else can, and he’s not ready to walk away from that yet. Not when spending time with her gave Ian a glimpse of everything he’s ever wanted. When his sister unwittingly pushes them together, he sees his chance. But convincing a woman who doesn’t believe in love that she’s his Mrs. Right might be harder than any mission Ian’s undertaken. Good thing this soldier likes a challenge…

About Katee:

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Katee Robert, learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back.Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way—as it often does—and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published. Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people? She now spends her time—when not lost in Far Reach worlds—playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

  14. It must be scary writing a second book when the first is so well received. We have all read a book that fell victim to 'second book syndrome'.

  20. I have a soft spot for books that use a sibling's best friend as a love interest. It just offers so many variables, and for some reason they just make me go awwwwww.
