Forever's Romantic Suspense Tour with Jami Alden and Dee Davis (Q&A/Giveaway)

I am happy to be a part of Forever Romance's Romantic Suspense tour with two great authors who are joining us today. Enjoy!

Crystal: Hi Dee and welcome to Reading Between the Wines. Can you start off by telling us, who or what is A-Tac?
Dee Davis: A-Tac is an elite CIA unit masquerading as faculty at an Ivy League college. Brilliant, badass, and seemingly bulletproof, the members of A-Tac are assigned to the riskiest missions and the most elusive targets.

C: Congratulations on the recent release of the 5th novel in the A-Tac series, Deadly Dance! Can you tell us a bit about the novel please?
DD: Deadly Dance is a long time coming.  Ages ago I wrote a series called Last Chance.  And in it was a computer forensics specialist named Harrison Blake.   He was originally slated to have the third book in that series.  But wound up being cut for another hero—Nigel Ferris.   Still Harrison lived in my heart, and his fans kept writing me.  And so here he is, a member now of A-Tac, finally getting a story of his own.  And of course true love.
Harrison has spent his life chasing after the serial killer who murdered his sister.  Finally, after years of trying to put the past behind him, he has made a new home for himself, and is falling for A-Tac’s intel expert, Hannah Marshall.   But when the Cyber Killer reappears all bets are off, the past threatening to consume his future.  And when the killer takes Hannah, Harrison is faced with chasing a madman through cyberspace to save the woman he loves.

C: What do you think readers will love most about the two main characters of Deadly Dance, Hannah and Harrison?
DD: Hannah and Harrison are both brilliant members of the A-Tac team, but they both hide horrors from their pasts.   And it is only in coming together that they can begin to face them.  And yet, each of them is determined to go it alone.   Afraid that in making the connection they will only be setting themselves up for loss.   I think the fun of any romance is watching the hero and heroine overcome obstacles so that they can ultimately find their happily ever after.  With Harrison and Hannah, the obstacles are as much emotional as physical.  And it is only when Hannah is facing sure death, that the two of them realize just how much stronger they are together than apart—and that nothing, not even a serial killer, can stand in their way.

C: Being the 5th in the series, is Deadly Dance set up well for new readers or would it be better for readers to start at the beginning of the A-Tac series? How does each of the novels in the series connect?
DD: The books are written as stand-alone novels.  However, there is a connecting plot that runs through the first three novels, culminating in Desperate Deeds (A-Tac 3).  This thread continues throughout the series and so there are overarching threads that make it better I think, if you read from the beginning.  In addition, the books are sequential which means things that happened in the first books effect things in the later ones.  So I think ideally, one should read them in order.  That said, each romance is stand-alone and so if you were to pick one up, that story is complete from beginning to end within pages of that particular novel.

C: And lastly Dee, what are two items that are a must-have for you when writing?
DD: I’m assuming the computer is a given.  So, a large glass of iced tea.   (She pauses to have a sip as she writes.)  And legal pad and pen for making notes to myself as I go.

Deadly Dance (A-Tac, #5)
As the intelligence officer for A-Tac, a black-ops CIA unit masquerading as Ivy League faculty, Hannah Marshall is used to working behind the scenes. But when a brutal murder hits too close to home, Hannah finds herself in the middle of the action, falling in love while racing to outwit a sadistic mastermind.
A KILLER CLOSES IN
After the death of her A-Tac partner, Hannah doubts everything she thought she knew about love and loyalty. When handsome Harrison Blake joins the team, she's reluctant to trust him - or to act on her intense attraction to him. Then Hannah receives a podcast of a gruesome murder, and the only person who can help her find the killer is Harrison.
Harrison has spent years trying to hunt down the cunning monster who killed his sister. Now investigating with Hannah, he faces a shocking possibility - his sister's murderer has resurfaced. As the danger escalates, Hannah and Harrison grow closer, the desire simmering between them ignites. And when Hannah disappears, Harrison has only one chance to save the woman he loves.
