She never expected this Cahill to be her hero—or the only man she'd need

It's hard to forget a beautiful woman who picks your pocket the first time you meet. Darby Cahill recognizes Mariah Ayres the moment she walks into his bar looking for a job. He shouldn't hire her…or crave more after one impulsive kiss. But what starts as curiosity about her motives turns to concern when he senses how much danger she's in.

Mariah has been running ever since she left her fiancé at the altar. Now she's playing the part of the perfect employee, terrified that her past will catch up with her. But Darby has already seen through her act. He's the kind of guy who saves people. And even if Mariah's given him no reason to trust her, he's determined to protect her—and he'll risk his life to do it…

Your Thoughts:
He was looking at the most exciting woman he’d ever met.

In Outlaw’s Honor, B. J. Daniels takes readers back to Gilt Edge, Montana for the second intriguing installment in her Cahill Ranch western family drama series. Before I continue, I have to mention the panoramically breath-taking setting for these books. The wide-open vistas with the looming mountain peaks are infused with beauty and precariousness and B.J. transports you there as she paints the scenes.

Outlaw’s Honor can work as a standalone read if you insist. The romantic relationship and the development of the dominant danger plot is fully contained within this novel. However, your enjoyment will be exponentially increased if you read this series in order as there are many secondary plots that were set up in Renegade’s Pride and that will advance in each successive book.

This series follows the fascinating Cahill family. There’s Ely, the family’s reclusive patriarch, who spends much of his time in the mountains panning for gold and is famous for his claim of being abducted by aliens in 1967.  Ely has five children. The oldest brother, Tucker, left home shortly after his high school graduation. The next brother, Flint, is the town’s sheriff. Two more brothers, Cyrus and Hawk, run the Cahill Ranch. Finally, twins Lillian and Darby own and run the Stagecoach Saloon, a pub/café which is housed in an historical old building restored from an original stagecoach stop. Lillian’s story was told in the first book.  In the second book, we move on to Darby.

While reluctantly doing a promotion at Gilt Edge’s famous Chokecherry Festival, a beautiful female thief tries to lift Darby’s wallet, and, in the process, leaves behind a valuable Roma bracelet.  When the mystery woman shows up the next day at the Stagecoach Saloon seeking a job, Darby discovers her name, Mariah, and he hires her. Whether this is a smart decision will be determined.

Darby and Mariah are both genuine, likable characters and their game of cat and mouse is engrossing to say the least. You should know that their romance is light – nothing steamy – but it is absolutely perfect for this tale.  Besides the primary characters, catching up with Lillian and Trask from the first book is a treat AND Flint’s and Maggie’s story is obviously heading into rough waters. I’m very glad we don’t have to wait long to read their tale.

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from Outlaw’s Honor:

He couldn’t jeopardize the saloon because of some silly infatuation with an outlaw. Even one as beautiful as Mariah Ayers.
---

She didn’t need anyone to tell her he was all wrong for her and yet…
---

He envied her, sensing that she lived each day as if it was her last.
---

The motorcycle’s headlights cut through the darkness. Ahead the road was nothing but a black hole. She roared toward it.

Outlaw’s Honor includes an exciting sneak preview of Dark Horse, the first book in a new series from BJ Daniels: Whitehorse, Montana: The McGraw Kidnapping. After reading the preview, I’m excited to read it! Dark Horse will release in August 2017. Here’s a short snippet from the preview.

“Remember what I told you about family secrets.” People will kill to keep them, she thought now as she looked at Marianne McGraw. The woman’s rocking didn’t change as Nikki stepped deeper into the room….

I know when I pick up a book by B.J. Daniels that I’m in for fast-paced, heart-pounding read. Outlaw’s Honor didn’t disappoint. B.J. is ultra-skilled at seamlessly pulling off a web of plots and I’m seriously addicted to her books. I actually enjoyed Outlaw’s Honor more than the first book since it wasn’t burdened with introducing the many Cahills and setting up the multiple plot lines. Outlaw’s Honor is a solid mystery/romance with plenty of angst, danger and action to keep readers turning the pages. Seriously, you cannot go wrong with any of B.J.’s books.

Cowboy’s Legacy, the next book in this series, is expected to be released in Nov 2017! It will feature the story of Sheriff Flint Cahill and Maggie. His crazy ex-wife has been causing trouble since the first book. Maggie has now gone missing with a winter storm bearing down. Can Flint find Maggie before it’s too late? I can’t wait to see how Flint’s and Maggie’s story evolves.

Suggested Reading Order:
Renegade’s Pride (Book #1)
Outlaw’s Honor (Book #2)
Cowboy’s Legacy (Book #3) – coming Nov 2017!
