Texas Homecoming

Violet Jacobs is fearless. At least, that's what the cowboys she snatches from under the hooves of bucking horses think. Outside the ring, she's got plenty of worries rattling her bones: her young son, her mess of a love life, and lately, her family's struggling rodeo. When she takes business into her own hands and hires on a hotshot bullfighter, she expects to start a ruckus. She never expected Joe Cassidy. Rough and tumble, cocky and charming, Joe's everything a superstar should be-and it doesn't take a genius to figure out he's way out of Violet's league.

Joe came to Texas to escape a life spiraling out of control. He never planned on sticking around, and he certainly never expected to call this dry and dusty backwater home. But Violet is everything he never knew he was missing, and the deeper he's pulled into her beautiful mess of a family, the more he realizes this fierce rodeo girl may be offering him the one thing he never could find on his own.

Crystal's Thoughts:
Reckless in Texas was a sweet and sexy contemporary western romance. It's been a long time since I've read a good rodeo story and this one definitely hit the spot!

Violet Jacobs is the only female pickup in rodeo, and as such she's had to put up with her fair share of egotistical cowboys. Nothing compares to the arrogance of bullfighter, Joe Cassidy though. Walking in like he owns the ring, Violet can't decided between kicking him in his delectable rump or watching it as he struts on by. With not only her family's business on the line, but her own reputation, and her young son to consider, it will take more then Joe's exceptional good looks and considerable charm to make her do anything reckless. Good thing Joe has more then that up his sleeve...

Reading about these characters in a rodeo was just as much of a rush as seeing it in person! Kari Lynn Dell  not only brings you to the forefront of this dangerous and adrenalizing sport, but also showcases the people behind it. From the metal paddocks vibrating from the push of a 2,000 lb bull to the dusty ranch teaming with livestock, Jacobs Livestock handles it all. It is Violet's job to breathe new life into her family's business and make it a name known throughout the rodeo circuit. I loved Violet's grit and determination. She's had a few knocks in life but she just keeps on trucking. She's also stubborn and sarcastic, which made for an entertaining read. Throw in her stoic, southern family, a friend turned one-time lover and now baby-daddy, and a manipulative, but cute, five-year-old, and life is never dull on the Jacobs  ranch.

Violet has a lot on her shoulders and the last thing she needs on her hands is a cocky bullfighter, but Joe Cassidy is not what she expected him to be.  Since he was a teenager, Joe has worked to make a home and a future for himself at the Browning ranch in Oregon. I empathized with him when his dreams took a drastic turn and he found himself looking down a new path in life. His character grew throughout the story from an arrogant rodeo star that I found myself shaking my head at, to a man wanting to better himself and be worthy of the woman he finds himself falling in love with. *dreamy sigh* The chemistry between Joe and Violet was sizzling, the romance sweet, and the dialogue sassy. Each needs to overcome their own insecurities before they can find a happily-ever-after in each-other's arms and the road to get there was gratifying.

Bottom line; Reckless in Texas was a fun read and I look forward to more from the Texas Rodeo series. Severally secondary characters peaked my interest, and I'm sure their stories will be just as exciting.
