#Interview with Katie Reus of Innocent Target + #Giveaway

We are extremely excited to have today’s guest back to the blog. Her romantic suspense books always earn high wine glasses from us and we gobble up her shifter series. Please join is in welcoming back, Katie Reus!

Katie: Thanks so much for having me here!

Lexi: Whoop whoop! The Redemption Harbor series is back with book four! (we’re already white knuckling our nooks and kindles) And in Innocent Target you bring yet another stellar heroine. Book one’s heroine was in the CIA, book two’s was a thief, book three had a wedding planner, and now in book four our heroine is a veterinarian. Which heroine’s career did you have the most fun writing into the story?

Katie: Haa, I’m going with Skye! She’s probably the most fun heroine I’ve ever written (well, she’s tied with a couple others). So Resurrection, book one, is the winner with my C-4 loving heroine! And I’m still having fun with her. She gets page time in Innocent Target and according to my wonderful readers, they still want more of her.

Lexi: Our heroine’s jobs have changed, but they all get their own alpha hero. And Axel in Innocent Target is just what romancelandia needs right now. He is protective and able to love without being an overbearing ass. Do you have any secrets on writing alpha heroes? Or any personal alpha hooks that make you fall for a hero?

Katie: For me, both as a reader and writer, there’s a huge difference between a true alpha (a man who wants to protect, lead, and help those around him) and an alpha-hole. I’m 99.9 percent secure saying I’ve never written an alpha-hole lol. My guys are tough badasses, but they’re also completely smitten over the women they fall for. And when they do, they’ll do anything to protect them. Not only that, they’re loyal to their friends and when they see a wrong, they want to right it. So... I don’t know that I have a secret ingredient, I just write what feels right.

Lexi: But even though Axel falls hard, you put him in a tough spot. Hadley is a contract, a target. And Axel is good at what he does, he is serious and doesn’t go into anything flippantly. How difficult was it to capture the war of his feelings between his desire to keep Hadley safe and his commitment to his work?

Katie: Once he fell for her… it wasn’t really hard. Once he got to know her, his decision to make a life change was an easy one. His real struggle is feeling worthy of her and overcoming his baggage.

Lexi: Of any author I can think of, you know how to write that perfect balance of alpha hero and strong heroine. Your characters come to life and fight for one another. Which is why we can’t get enough of the Redemption Harbor series! Can you tell us what’s coming up next from you?

Katie: Thank you! What’s coming out this year: In July, look for Wolf’s Mate, a fun little paranormal novella in my Crescent Moon series (complete with a secret baby!). And Hunting Danger (Redemption Harbor #5) will be out in late September. I’m SOOO excited about this one and it’s actually what I’m working on right now. By late May/early June I hope to have most of the pre-order links up. And for those reading the series, Hunting Danger is Gage and Nova’s story! I’ve got more things in the works but that is what I can share for now.

Thank you, Katie, for not making us wait eons for these books. The Redemption Harbor series is amazing. Congrats on the release of Innocent Target! And we hope to have you back soon for another release!

From USA Today bestselling author Katie Reus comes the next story in the explosive Redemption Harbor series where sparks fly and so do bullets…

He wasn’t supposed to fall for her…

She was a target. A contract that came across his desk by mistake. Axel was simply going to warn her that she was in danger and get out. Then he got a taste of her and fell hard. But they’re from two different worlds. Not only is she innocent, she’s out of his league. He should keep his distance, but he can’t. Not when someone wants her dead. Now he’s driven to protect her, to keep her safe.

What happens when she discovers who he really is?

Hadley moved to Redemption Harbor for vet school and to be closer to her new family. Now that her billionaire father knows about her existence, her life has changed drastically. She just never imagined that she might be targeted because of her family. And she definitely never imagined she would fall for the one man she should never want. A man who kills for a living. A man who’s obsessed with her. A man who will do anything to protect her from the danger lurking in the shadows.
