Marley Rose’s Back to School List from Knight on the Texas Plains by Linda Broday + #Giveaway

Marley Rose’s Back to School List

This is fun to think about. If Marley Rose, Duel and Jessie's adoptive daughter from Knight on the Texas Plains, was old enough she’d go to a one-room country school. Here’s her list of supplies:

  • One slate
  • Chalk
  • A 1st grade McGuffey Reader
  • Scissors
  • An Apple for the teacher
  • A lunch pail

Crayons weren’t invented yet but she might have glue. Maybe new ribbons for her hair and a new pair of shoes. Duel and Jessie worship this little girl so she’d have more than most did back then.

Duel McClain was no knight in shining armor --- he was a drifter who prided himself on having no responsibilities. But a poker game thrust him into the role of father to an abandoned baby, and then a condemned woman stumbled up to his campfire. The fugitive beauty aimed to keep him at shotgun's length, but obvious maternal instincts belied her fierce demeanor. And she and the baby were clearly made for each other. Worse, the innocent infant and the alleged murderess opened Duel's heart, made him long for the love of a real family. And the only way to have that would be to slay the demons of the past.

  1. Hi Reading Between the Wines....Thank you so much for hosting me. I always love coming here. You have a warm, welcoming site. I hope readers will try Knight on the Texas Plains. I think they might like it. Books #2 and #3 of Texas Heroes will release next year (2018.)

  2. This back to school list is WAY different than the ones kids today have for all grades!

  3. I remember when I was young and went back to school, all my mom had to buy was pencils, a notebook, and a smock for art class. Things are so different now and so much more expensive.
Congrats on the release. Knight on the Texas Plains sounds fantastic. Can't wait to read it.

  4. My daughter-in-law just bought a bunch of things for my two grandsons. When my kids were little I don't remember buying so much.

  5. Glenda and Rita Wray......Yes, these back to school lists get longer every year. Just too crazy all the things a teacher says they'll need.

Thank you so much for the congrats, Joanne B. Jodi, I hope you try it.

    Everyone have a great day!
