Favorite Summer Activities with Carolyn Brown of Toughest Cowboy in Texas + #Giveaway

Summer is right around the corner and The Toughest Cowboy in Texas is on the shelves for everyone who loves cowboys and sassy women’s summer reading.

You asked for my top five favorite summer activities. At first I thought I could answer that in one word and just repeat it for all five—READING!

But then I gave it a little thought and realized that a good book would be the first answer but there are some other things that we love to do in our family during the summer months. It gets hot in southern Oklahoma and north Texas so our five favorite activities might be a little different than those in the other parts of the world. So here’s my top five list of favorite things to do in the summer...

Number Five: Wear flip flops. Of course that does mean making sure the toe nail polish isn’t chipped and that the feet do not look like rhinosaurus toes, but it’s a small price to pay to get rid of shoes and wear all those cute little blinged-out flip flops.

Number Four: Sit on the porch in the shade and drink sweet tea or a glass of chilled wine while catching up on all the gossip with a best friend.

Number Three: Family reunions. Seeing all the first, second, third and fourth cousins and talking about that time when Great Uncle Herman fell out of the rocking chair when he drank too much of Aunt Mabel’s peach flavored moonshine.

Number Two:  Research road trips! I never write about a place I haven’t seen so going to all the sites during the summer is so much fun. Mr. B (that’s my husband) and I are great travel companions and anytime I want to take a long weekend to go see a town or an area, he drags out the suitcases and fills the car with gas.

Number One: Reading a good romance book, preferably with a sexy cowboy and a sassy heroine who isn’t whiny and does not need a man to complete her but to love her the way she is.

Happy reading about Brody and Lila and have a lovely summer!

The Spark of an Old Flame

Last time Lila Harris was in Happy, Texas, she was actively earning her reputation as the resident wild child. Now, a little older and wiser, she's back to run her mother's café for the summer. Except something about this town has her itching to get a little reckless and rowdy, especially when she sees her old partner-in-crime, Brody Dawson. Their chemistry is just as hot as ever. But he's still the town's golden boy-and she's still the wrong kind of girl.

Brody hasn't had much time lately for anything other than ranching. Running the biggest spread in the county and taking care of his family more than keeps him busy. All that responsibility has him longing for the carefree days of high school-and Lila. She may have grown up, but he still sees that spark of mischief in her eyes. Now he's dreaming about late-night skinny dipping and wondering how he can possibly resist the one woman he can never forget...
