Release Date: May 31st, 2011

The Neon Graveyard-
Though once the perceived savior of the paranormal underworld, Joanna is now just another mortal. Yet the dueling factions of Shadow and Light won’t leave her alone. And while she’s being hunted for her duality, she can’t afford to hide. Her lover – her future – is being held captive in Midheaven, the stronghold of a goddess, her greatest foe. Joanna will risk everything she’s fought for up until now in order to bring about the future she really wants, but that includes the prophesized apocalypse that will consume the valley if she fails.

OMGoodness, I just saw the new cover for Vicki Pettersson's The Neon Graveyard today and had to share!!! *Squee* So excited for this to come out! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series, it is my second favorite series EVER. (Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress PR series being the first, duh) and my #1 fave UF. But...sniff, sniff...sad news; this is going to be the last book. It's always sad to see a series end with characters that you love but I hope Joanna & Hunter go out with a bang and Joanna gets her HEA.
There is a great interview with Vicki at Wicked little Pixie where she talks about her series and the upcoming release of The Neon Graveyard, and it's also where I found the book info & covercheck it out. Though Vicki did post it on FB and darn it, I must not of got on FB that day!

If you haven't read this series yet then shame on you! Go get it, treat yourself to an early Christmas present or something. Seriously. I would describe this series as;
arresting, captivating, consuming, engrossing, enthralling, exciting, fascinating, gripping, interesting, intriguing, monopolizing, preoccupying, riveting, spellbinding

The series is what I would consider a dark urban fantasy about quirky kick-ass heroine Joanna Archer, who at 16 was left to die in the middle of the Nevada desert after a horrific assault. Almost a decade later Demons start hunting her and Joanna learns that she has supernatural powers as one of the Signs of the Zodiac, The Archer, basically a super hero. Unfortunetly she is of both Shadow and Light, two sides continually waring, which causes her troop to doubt her and her to doubt herself. Joanna must also cope with her own internal struggles before she can be the heroine her troop and city, Las Vegas, needs.

The story arc is fast-paced, intense, complex and creative. I cannot think of anything that is not in these books. Vicki gives you action, suspense, drama, entertainment, mystery, deceit, romance, loss, anguish; you laugh, cry, get angry, get hot ;), hurt, everything, right along with Joanna. It is simply amazing the way she draws you in.
These books are good sized and once you start you won't be able to put them down. I was literally up day & night devouring these and completed each in a day to move on to the next one. Actually, the hubs got a bit upset because I was seriously rooted in my corner of the couch reading non-stop. Addictive much, yes.
City of Souls had me bawling, for reals. I couldn't stand the heartache and was depressed for a day or so afterwards. Now you would think that'd be a bad thing but its not; it's just the book was that damn good, it grabbed at you and wouldn't let you go even after it ended.
Cheat the Grave I was a bit disappointed with and only because I wanted the story to go a certain way and it didn't. Evil author. But it's not my story and I'm hoping everything works out the way I would like it to in The Neon Graveyard. Even if it goes another way it is still an amazing series and I've totally enjoyed the journey.

  1. Is this the UK cover? It doesn't fit with the rest of the US covers - but it does fit the UK ones.

    I can never tell. LOL Sometimes half way through a series they will change a cover and go in a totally different direction. :)

    Have a great weekend.

    To me though it resembles the Cheat the Grave cover which they did differently then the first four.
