Heart of Darkness Tour: Kendra Leigh Castle and Cynthia Garner Tour (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Today I would like to welcome two great paranormal romance authors with new & upcoming releases perfect for the month of love! (Did you see these covers? I'm in love already!)

Vampire Valentines
By Kendra Leigh Castle

Since Valentine's Day has only just passed, I thought readers might be interested to know what my vampires look for in a valentine.  These men might be immortal, powerful beings, but the yearnings of the heart are fairly universal.  Rather than listening to me go on about it, I'll let them tell you in their own words, since it was a subject that came up a while back when they were all single.  This is what they said:

Tynan MacGillivray (who, I would like to note, looked extremely uncomfortable with the question):  I don't really have time for that sort of thing.  It's not like there are women lined up for a Cait Sith to give them a paper heart.  But, well, if I must.  I suppose I'd want someone strong.  She'd have to be, to deal with a man who acts as Hunter for the Queen of the Ptolemy.  Strong, and kind-hearted, and calm under pressure, since my life would be bound to spill into hers.  And...all right, since we're talking wishes, I'd like a redhead.  I've always fancied those.  You're not writing this down, are you?

Jaden Harrison (who seemed more wistful than uncomfortable):  A valentine, eh?  Hmm.  I'd want someone funny.  Someone who wasn't afraid to take the piss out of me.  Not a shrinking violet.  Probably someone a bit brash and bold.  A fighter, you know?  Brave.  Almost, ah, wild, in her way.  As though she might be hiding fangs, or even claws...*blushes*  Never mind.  This is a bloody stupid question.

Damien Tremaine (sprawled lazily in a chair):  You're not serious?  What I would want in a valentine.  What a ridiculously human question.  You know me.  I think nudity would be rather high on the list.  Possibly an extensive knowledge of belly dancing.  Oh, and let me see...she'd have money, power, an excellent wine cellar—Ouch!  How is kicking me called for?  You asked the question!  What did you expect me to say?  That I'd like some beautiful innocent who looks like a fairy princess?  Honestly.

Tasmin Singh (sitting stiffly and averting his very pretty golden eyes once I explained the concept of Valentine's Day to him):  I'm...not sure what this question has to do with anything.  What would I wish my woman to be?  I doubt I'll live long enough to find someone suited.  She would have to have enough luck for the both of us, I think, since I seem to have none.  I would choose someone warm and proud and fierce and beautiful.  A lioness, at least in spirit.  But finding a woman like that...I don't know.  I don't think she exists.  And even if she did, there's only so much any one person can be expected to handle.  Still, it is a nice thought.

So there you have it, four very different vampires looking for very different valentines.  Who would you choose to be yours?

A Love Letter
By Cynthia Garner

My dearest Finn:

I can’t get you out of my mind. Flashes of our night of passion keep rising to my thoughts, blocking everything except memories of what it feels like to touch you, kiss you. I can’t express in words what your caresses do to me, how your look of lust fires my own passion. I love the way you lean into me, the way your stubble roughened jaw feels against my skin. Each kiss is like the first, eagerly awaited and enthusiastically returned.

My anticipation of our next time together has me on the edge, ready to tumble over. My senses are heightened, my skin more sensitive. I want, I need to feel your naked body against mine. I want to see your body respond to my touch. I want to make you as weak with desire as you’ve made me.

Until we’re together once more, as always, with love,

Keira

The next opening of the rift is coming—and its consequences will be deadly. A rogue group of human-hating preternaturals is planning an apocalyptic attack, but the Council of Preternaturals may have found the key to saving the world: Keira O'Brien, a fey with a long criminal record, whose empathic abilities once made her the queen of con artists. If she successfully infiltrates the dangerous faction, the sins of her past will be forgiven.
Keira isn't the only agent working against the rogue prets. Finn Evnissyen, a powerful demon with a dark lineage, is a hired assassin looking for a way out. If he stops the threat, he will finally earn his freedom. As the rift fast approaches, and danger escalates, Finn and Keira must discover if they're on the same side—or sleeping with the enemy . . .

Glittergirl, I'm glad you enjoyed the post. Good luck.

Chrisbails, right now in my Warriors of the Rift series there are 3 books. I mostly write paranormal romance, and that is definitely my favorite genre. That's what I like to read, too, plus romantic suspense, sci fi, and historical romance--it all depends on my mood. LOL

  8. Leanne, I can only tell you that the way I kept my series fresh was to come up with an alternative way that supernatural creatures came to be. I'm so glad you're enjoying the Rift series.

Raonaid, thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoy the books. :)

Diane, thanks so much. I don't know how Kendra does it, but I keep fairly extensive notes, broken out by book, because if I left it up to my memory...oy. It'd be a hot mess!

  15. Hi everyone! *waving* I'm late, and I apologize. My youngest brought the family the gift of stomach flu. It has been a whirlwind of merriment here. Still, better late than never, and you all asked good questions!

chrisbails, this is the fourth book in the Dark Dynasties series, and I plan to write one more. I LOVE writing paranormal romance...can't beat guys with fangs. Reading-wise, I'm really enjoying the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin right now, and I just picked up a couple of YA fantasies. My taste varies, but I do love at least a hint of fantasy in my reading.

Leanne, I'm the same as Cynthia on this...I just tried to come up with my own spin on vampire mythology. It's a tough market right now, though, for sure!

Diane, I am basically a disorganized hot mess. Somehow, I get it to work, but it isn't pretty.

books4me, I have a busy brain, I guess! I love coming up with story ideas.

Julianne, I usually manage to get a dinner out of it:) Also, I like to reward myself with sleep, because sleep is amazing and I don't get enough of it!

Thanks so much to everyone for stopping by! I hope you love the books!

  32. pc, it depends on a lot of factors as to how long it takes me to write a book. I'd say once I'm through the planning/plotting stage (which could take a couple of weeks or a couple of months), the actual writing takes about 6-8 weeks. Then there's editing and revising before it goes off to the editor, so that can sometimes add another week or two. So, maybe 3 months if everything goes smoothly.

SdyLion, thanks so much for the kind words! :)

Thank you, everyone, for stopping by. Good luck!
