Fangs, Fur & Mistletoe by Selena Blake (Guest Post)

Today I would like to give a warm welcome to author, Selena Blake, who is joining us to talk about sexy werewolves and what she loves about 'em!

Top Ten Traits I Love About Werewolves

For some reason, I'm drawn to werewolves. Not the scary, horror movie version, but the more recent romanticized versions. I've written about quite a few of them now and I thought I should put together a list of what they have in common.

1. Natural leader
In my books, in my mind, even the wolves who aren't the Alpha are natural leaders. Strong and capable, quick minded and able to make the tough decisions. I respect that. We need more leaders in this world, I think.

2. Protective
Their animal half makes them naturally protective, and I dig that. A lot. There's something to be said for having someone watch your back.

3. Warm
In my world, werewolves have a higher body temperature than humans. They often sleep without sheets (and clothes for that matter); don't mind rain or a romp in the snow.

4. Dominant
Werewolves tend to be dominant personalities. I think it's all that killer instinct locked up in them.

5. Tender
For all their dominance and protectiveness and yes, gruffness, wolves have an innate tenderness. You see it in the way they interact with lovers, friends, and the way they play with their children.

6. Observant
It's the animal in them but most of my werewolves are very observant. They're always looking over their shoulder, making sure that their secret is kept quiet. And many of my heroes have trained as soldiers, so they're extra observant, always looking for a threat to the pack.

7. Brazen
Werewolves can be cocky. Let's face it, in this fantasy world, they're tall, dark, and gorgeous. They can have any woman (or man) they want. They'll jump first and ask questions later.

8. Graceful
Let's face it. Wolves are graceful creatures. And in my world, that comes through even in human form. A natural, animalistic swagger. What's not to love?

9. Confident
Despite hiding out, guarding their secret and in some cases, living in exile, werewolves are confident creatures. They've gotta be. Some call them monsters. It would take a tough skin and an innate confidence to live like that.

10. Sexy
You know it's true. All of the traits listed above combine into one walking, talking, sexy hunk.

Those are my favorite traits about werewolves. What did I miss? What are your favorites? Do you have any least favorites? Who are some of your favorite werewolves?
