Lexi's Picks for Best of 2018 + #Giveaway!

We've popped the champagne and are ready to go through our best reads of 2018! So pull up a chair and grab some bubbly, it's time to look back over this past year's read pile.

Lexi: 2018 was a hot streak for me and it's hard to pick a top one in some of the genres. Just a little more champagne and I'll start with...

Historical Romance: Dangerous by Minerva Spencer

A perfect example of why I read historical romance. Strong heroines, danger, fierce loyalty, and secrets. This was the beginning of Spencers series and both are perfect!

Fantasy: Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik

A perfect fairy tale inspired novel whose characters criss-cross the line between good and evil. The ending is superb!

Fantasy Romance:
My favorite genre and there were two stand out books that I adore too much to decide!

The Arrows of the Heart by Jeffe Kennedy

Kennedy’s signature balance of magical elements and deep relationships is at its best in The Arrows of the Heart. The connection between Zyr and Karyn is moving and a great building block for the overarching, and frightening, plot.

Phoenix Unbound by Grace Draven

Draven’s ability to create a land and its magic system filled with diverse people is astounding. The evil is palpable and the desires and determination of the hero and heroine are powerful and felt on each page.

Science Fiction: Mem by Bethany C. Morrow

Thought provoking sci-fi that will leave you with the uneasy thoughts of what it means to be human.

Sci-Fi Romance: Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik

This debut is technically out in January 2019 but this ARC blew me away. A space princess, action and adventure, and a stunning hero all culminate to a perfect read.

Mystery/Thriller: The Au Pair by Emma Rous

Another January 2019 release that I fell in love with early. Family secrets on a cursed estate that is accused of having involvement with the fae. Told in alternating present and past POVs, The Au Pair is a can’t-put-it-down read.

Audiobook: All Systems Red by Martha Wells

I tore through The Murderbot Diaries and this lovely audiobook started it all. Kevin R. Free’s voice allows the personality of Murderbot, the security robot who turned off its governor in order to enjoy hours and hours of soap opera viewing and prevent it from murdering humans, again. Humor, AI, a bit of a mystery, and action make this irresistible.

Contemporary Romance: Diamonds Are Truly Forever by Gina Robinson

This was a re-read and it was as delightful the third time around as it was the first. Sweet, fun, and well written, everything you want in a contemp-romance/chick-lit.

Cheers to 2018, a good year, and a cheers to welcome 2019. May your year be filled with many wonderful books!
