#Interview with Donna Grant of The Hero + #Giveaway!

Lexi: We are very excited to have this return guest today. She not only loves wine…she is one awesome author! Welcome back, Donna Grant!

Thank you so much, Lexi! It’s good to be back. ☺

Lexi: A few years ago we drooled over your hot covers. Today we get to talk about your new romantic suspense series, Sons of Texas. The cover of THE HERO is another hit! The flag in the background is a nice patriotic touch for the hero, Owen. How did you prepare to write about a Navy SEAL?

Thank you! I love the cover! My editor came up with the concept, and I think it fits perfectly with the theme of the series. To be honest, putting the idea for the series together was easy. The hard part was getting the guns, ammunition, and military language correct. I also found someone who is fluent in Russian to help translate those parts. This was so different, and at times stressful, but I love that I pushed myself to write something so different then my usual. By the time I got to the third book, it was all easier. I think I need to date a military man so I can get info quickly. lol

Lexi: As one who has friends and family serving in our military I am aware that it is not a glamorous life but I also love reading military romances because these people are heroes. All of your leading men share hero qualities. Do you find it similar or different writing about a highlander and a SEAL?

I also had/have family serving in the military, and those men and women are the ultimate heroes to me. When I was thinking of writing in another genre, I kept coming back to the military because they’re built in heroes. In some ways, SEALs have the same qualities as a Highlander. They might battle differently, but ultimately they have the same goals.

Lexi: THE HERO takes place in your backyard, Texas! Did you put any of your favorite local things in the book?

Yes and no. I’m about five hours from Dallas, but that drive in is a beautiful one. That’s why I decided to set the ranch in that area. It was nice being able to write about places I’ve known my whole life though. ☺

Lexi: I can’t wait to pick up THE HERO. And I am even more excited to see that book two, THE PROTECTOR, will shortly follow! Did you write both of them together or did the publication dates line up that way?

I had no idea about the publication dates until my editor told me. I like how the first two books will release back to back, and readers won’t have to wait too terribly long for THE LEGEND, the third book (which is my favorite of the three).

Lexi: Whatever conspires to bring us more of your books works for me. Cheers to your new series, Donna! Thank you for stopping by again and we will be looking forward to the next time!

You’re amazing as always, Lexi. Thank you for everything. Until next time!

  1. Donna Grant is such an amazing storyteller. I have loved her series books and all are rereads for me.Her heroes are all such wonderful characters. I believe that Highlanders and Seals are very much the same kind of "in your face" warriors. I'm looking forward to the start of this new series. Awesome cover once again.
