The Riders are three immortal brothers who protect the mythical Baba Yagas. But their time serving the witches has ended—and their new destinies are just beginning...

Ever since a near-fatal mistake stripped Mikhail Day and his brothers of their calling to be Riders, Day has hidden from his shame and his new, mortal life in a remote cabin in the Adirondack mountains. But when a desperate young woman appears on his doorstep, he cannot resist helping her—and cannot deny how strongly he’s drawn to her...

For generations, women in Jenna Quinlan’s family have been cursed to give up their first born child to the vengeful fairy Zilya. When Jenna finds herself unexpectedly pregnant, she is determined to break her family’s curse and keep her baby, even if it means teaming up with a mysterious and charismatic man with demons of his own...

To unravel the curse, Jenna and Day will have to travel deep into the Otherworld. But the biggest challenge of the journey might not be solving an ancient puzzle but learning to heal their own broken hearts...

Linda's  Thoughts:
"I swore I wasn't going to rescue any more damsels in distress," Day muttered.
To his surprise, Barbara gave him a lopsided grin, banging on the side of the trailer to make it produce a door. "What makes you think she isn't rescuing you?" she asked, and stomped inside without a backward look.

DANGEROUSLY CHARMING by Deborah Blake is a fantastic return to the author’s delightful Otherworld. The title describes the book to a tee as the hero and the story are truly DANGEROUSLY CHARMING! The story features my favorite Rider from her Baba Yaga series, Mikhail Day, and Jenna Quinlan, a beautiful young woman with child.

I was heartbroken when all the Riders were left without their immortality or powers at the end of WICKEDLY POWERFUL, which concluded Deborah’s Baba Yaga series. All the Riders have now gone their separate ways. Mikhail is leading a solitary existence in a remote cabin far off the beaten path. He still feels intense remorse for delivering his brother Riders to the former Baba-Yaga–turned-crazy-witch Brenna who usurped the Riders immortality and, in the process, almost took their lives. When Jenna Quinlan shows up on Mikhail’s doorstep in desperate need of his help, will he decide to aid her in her perilous quest?

For generations, Jenna’s family has been unfairly cursed to give up their first-born child to a faery. Jenna is determined to be the one to bring the curse to its end. To do so, she must solve the faery’s riddle. There’s no time to spare as Jenna is currently pregnant and the faery who put the curse on her family is already conspiring to claim Jenna’s child!

Mikhail doesn’t believe he has a future; Jenna wants a future with her unborn child. Mikhail may not be a Rider anymore, but he’s not lost a drop of his sex appeal. I still love him! Jenna is a great character on her own. She’s strong, independent, determined and delightfully quirky. Nothing seems to faze her.

This story takes place both in the mortal realm and in the Otherworld which Deborah describes with amazingly realistic imagery. There’s a slew of new flamboyantly peculiar supporting creatures and characters who join in the fun. Catching up with Baba Yaga Barbara, Babs, Liam and Chudo Yudo is nothing short of a treat. The dialogue between Barbara and Mikhail is especially poignant.

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from this read:

"Do you want to tell me what you're doing up here in the middle of the woods?" He gazed at her milky white skin, dark hair, and wide eyes. "If you're looking for the seven dwarfs, they live in the next forest over."
---

"Thanks, Baba. You are always such a comfort."
She gave him a wry look. "I know. I've been considering becoming a counselor. Or possibly a nurse."
Day shook his head. "If I were you, Baba Yaga, I'd stick to your day job."
---

"Why do you two have swords?"
"Yes," Day asked. "Why do we?" He headed toward the door without waiting for the answer.
"There is a gigantic beast rising from the lake and coming toward the hut," Gregori said, as if he'd just told them the neighbors were coming for breakfast. "We should probably stop it before it gets here."

No worries if you haven’t read Deborah’s Baba Yaga series. You do not need to have read it to thoroughly enjoy DANGEROUSLY CHARMING. But, if you want to read more stories set in Deborah’s Otherworld after you read this book, I’d highly recommend that you pick up her Baba Yaga series, and settle back for some wonderfully addictive storytelling!

Much as I loved every installment in the author’s Baba Yaga series, this is my favorite Deborah Blake book to-date. DANGEROUSLY CHARMING is action-packed and teeming with wry humor.  It is an inspiring story of hope and love interwoven with an amazing paranormal urban fantasy romance.  It was so good that I would read it again!

I can’t wait for DANGEROUSLY DIVINE which will be the story of the oldest Rider, Gregori Sun.  It will take place in Minnesota in the wintertime. Brrr! The cover has already been released and he is pictured on it along with his hot red Ducati!
