Star is an Interstellar Council judge. Her position requires her to pass sentence, hunt down the offenders, and administer punishments. She’s considered one of the best, and if she plays her cards right, she just might become the first of the Hunter species to ascend to the Supreme Court–her life’s goal. When she’s ordered to hunt down a rogue Jacian ambassador in heat, the precedent is death. Sympathetic, but following the law she holds so dear, she pursues him with the intent to kill. Roark has entered his mating cycle. By Council law, he should be locked in a room with his pre-assigned partner for a week of non-stop sex that will get him through his heat. But he doesn’t want his pre-assigned. He wants Star, the luscious blonde judge whose compassion and intelligence has won his regard. The penalty for going rogue while in heat is death, but that’s a small price to pay for a week of sensual pleasure with the woman he desires more than anything.
Now the huntress is the prey, and when she’s snared by a man in heat, it’s passion that rules, not the law. Or does it? Roark still has his sentence, and his lover Star is judge, jury… and executioner.

My Thoughts:
Snaring the Huntress was a fun little read that was only about 50 pages or so.

The story follows a Huntress, Star, who is a Judge (a sort of law enforcement person) fighting to prove herself to the council and garner respect for her race. She’s been having these highly erotic dreams for the last week though of a faceless man bringing her to the edge but never finishing, leaving her frustrated and unable to concentrate. When she is sent on a mission to capture a rogue Jacian she plans on a quick and easy tag and bag, but when she comes face to face with her dream man her plans are drastically altered.
Roark has been watching Star for two years but she was so preoccupied with her career and goals in life he knew she would never give him the time of day. So when he enters his heat, the Jacian mating cycle where they must have constant sex or go mad and hurt others, he renegades on his pre-assigned partner hoping the council would send Star to hunt him down.  He is on the brink when she finally shows up to bring him in but Star is a worthy companion. Asking for a week from her before she turns him over to the council they indulge in their every fantasy but what will happen when the weeks over and Roark is sentenced to death?

With a sexy couple, imaginative characters and a creatively built world, Snaring the Huntress was a great out-of-this-world short. I loved Roark and the detailed plan he put together to capture Star, he knew what he wanted and he went after it, no matter how long it took. Though there were a few erotic scenes I was expecting more, and more of that harness. Curious much is me! lol One of Sylvia Day’s first works I say it was a good start to a fabulous career at writing. A nice little quickie to fall into!

Rating: 3 Wine Glasses - Good

Sexual Content: These two do the alien tango for a week straight, I'm surprised that all that friction didn't burn the room down!
