Hellfighters (1968) is based loosely on the life of Red Adair, the famous firefighter who battled more than two thousand land and offshore oil well, natural gas well, and similar spectacular fires in his lifetime. Chance Buckman (John Wayne) heads a Houston, Texas oil and gas fire-fighting company. He travels around the world with his crew putting out fires. Chance enjoys his work, but he misses his ex-wife Madelyn Buckman (Vera Mills) and their daughter Tish Buckman (Katharine Ross). Chance reconnects with Madelyn and they decide to remarry. Soon he is called to Venezuela where he extinguishes five oil wells burning in a row as Tomahawk fighters strafe the oilfield to stop him. Red Adair was a legend in his own time and continues to inspire with his firefighting bravery, inventiveness, and expertise.

I love romantic suspense. For a long time I’ve been writing the law enforcement/undercover agent/black ops type. The books are fast-paced and high stakes.  Basically, there’s a lot of shooting and explosions. These books mix my love of the romance genre with my love for action movies. My plan is to continue writing those types of books…but that’s NOT what the Games People Play series is about.
