Forget the Wine – Pass Me the Rum!

Like all of you, I’m a big fan of pouring a glass of wine and relaxing with a book.  But today I’m going to ask you to switch it up and focus on reading with rum.  My current release Cruising Toward Love takes place on a Caribbean cruise.  The Caribbean region is famous – and rightly so – for their rum (yum!).  And given the time of year, I’m going to start with a recipe tip – buy yourself some run of the mill grocery store eggnog (even the lowfat version), and add some spiced rum to it.  Phenomenal!  Of course, there’s nothing wrong with piña coladas, daiquiris, or the classic rum & coke.

I'm being bad by neglecting my review pile and re-reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, so here we go........

In the glow of black candles, Vishous was bent over with his head down, his leather-clad hips driving back and forth, his bare shoulders and massive arms flexed up hard. Beneath him, a female was tied down on a table at her wrists and ankles, her body wrapped in leather except for the tips of her breasts and where V was slamming into her core. Even though there was a mask over her face and a ball gag in her mouth, Butch was pretty damn sure she was on the verge of a orgasm. She was making little mewling noises, begging for more even as tears streaked down her leather-covered cheeks. When V's head lifted from the female's neck, his eyes were glowing and his fangs were long as...well, she might need stitches, put it that way.

Saloon Girls

I find it ironic that perhaps the most liberated women of the wild west were the ones that worked in saloons as dance hall girls. I’m not talking about the women that sold their favors and worked in brothels or cribs. No, I’m talking about the women that worked in respectable saloons made their money by keeping men company in the predominantly male western towns of the frontier.

These women came from all walks of life including single mothers, widows, and women looking to start a new life often under a new name or identity. By working in a saloon they would earn far more than they could in any other job and the work was quite easy. Their man job at the saloon was to sing for the men, dance with them and talk with them while persuading them to spend more money at the bar or gaming tables.
