Top 5 Reasons to Love Janwar from The Akseli
Hello! Thanks so much for joining us! I’m very happy to be here, celebrating the release of the fourth stand-alone novel in my exciting new Aldebarian Alliance series—THE AKSELI. If you like sci-fi romance and paranormal romance that is full of action that will keep you flipping pages well past your bedtime, strong heroes who adore strong women, lovable secondary characters, humor that will make you laugh out loud, and happily-ever-afters, then I think you’ll enjoy this one.
Today I thought I would help you get to know Janwar, the hero, by giving you five reasons Simone falls in love with him… along with some snippets from the story.
He likes to tease and banter with Simone.
“I’m seeing a lot of alien races,” she murmured.
“It’s a popular gathering place,” Janwar said.
“Which ones have the butt fetish?”
He cast her a quizzical look over his shoulder. “I don’t think my translator got that right. What?”
“Which ones are obsessed with asses?”
His eyes glinted with amusement. “I believe that would be you.”
Soval let out a bark of laughter that drew looks.
She grinned. “I didn’t say I was obsessed with your ass, just that I thought it was very nice.”
He turned a chuckle into a cough. “Stop making me laugh, vuan it. I’m an amoral pirate renowned throughout the galaxy for my cold ferocity. When I’m in places like this, I have to look the part.”
“So you’re saying your ass is fierce?” she quipped. “Now I like it even more.”
Moisture welled in her eyes as her throat worked in a hard swallow. “I can’t believe you did this for me. Both of you.”
Though his chest constricted at the sight of her tears, the fact that they were spawned by happiness brought him a joy he hadn’t experienced since Lisa and Taelon’s baby had held her little arms out to him for a hug, then snuggled against his chest. “We take care of our friends,” he said, his voice a little husky. Simone was rapidly coming to feel like far more than that to him.
His throat tightened as more tears chased each other down her cheeks.
Her gaze met his. “You don’t know what an incredible gift you’ve given me.”
If Janwar had his way, he would give her many more.
He loves strong women.
“Where’s the finish line?” Simone called out after their second lap.
She wasn’t even out of breath!
“The black staff on the wall,” Janwar said, heart pounding, muscles burning.
Something that sounded suspiciously like a giggle escaped her as she increased her speed even more.
Carefree laughter threatening to throw off his stride, he pushed himself to his limits and barely managed to draw even with her just as they passed the black staff.
Both pulled up, slowing to a walk.
While his breath huffed in and out in gasps, Simone’s remained as even as if they’d just walked around the track instead. The only indications he could find that she had exerted herself were pink cheeks and a fine sheen of perspiration that gave her skin a minute glimmer.
Laughing, Janwar shook his head.
“What?” she asked, still smiling.
He motioned to her. “There is… a lot of speed… packed into that little body,” he professed, still trying to catch his breath.
She laughed in delight. “There’s a lot of speed packed into your big body. We tied.”
He shook a finger at her as they continued to walk. “Only because you… willed it. You know… you could’ve easily won.”
She wrinkled her nose. “Yes. But you’re the commander.” She gave him a friendly nudge with an elbow. “I figured you’d boot me off the ship if I won.”
He laughed again and shook his head as his breathing finally slowed. “No. I’d just get you to race against Krigara—the only one who comes close to beating me when we race—and bet against him.”
He winked. “Well, I am a pirate.”
He stared down at her for a long moment as though debating inwardly. Then he lowered his head and touched his lips to hers.
Fire sparked through her, lighting her up inside and filling her with wondrous heat. Rising onto her toes, she looped her arms around his neck, leaned in, and lost herself in the feel and scent of him. Janwar’s kiss carried a hint of desperation, as though he feared this would be his only chance to hold her like this. And hold her he did, wrapping his arms around her in a crushing embrace. As soon as she parted her lips, he deepened the contact, slipping his tongue inside to stroke hers.
Damn, he could kiss.
When he finally drew back, Simone was breathless.
“Good luck,” he whispered, his russet eyes darker with desire as he released her.
Unable to speak, she nodded and watched silently as he walked away with the others, leaving her alone.
He even loves the quiet moments he and Simone share.
Janwar squeezed her tighter. “I’ve never felt like this before, Simone. I’m afraid one day it will end, that you’ll leave for Lasara, and I’ll never see you again. But fear has never stopped me from pursuing what I want. And I want you. I want every minute I can have with you, even if we’re just sitting next to each other on the bridge, holding hands.”
Her eyes flashed brighter. Then she fisted his hair and took his lips a scorching kiss.
