#Spotlight on Deathmarch by Dana Marton

Author's note

Welcome back to Broslin Creek! If you've read  the previous books in this small-town mystery/suspense series, you'll love Harper Finnegan's story. Once a town bad-boy, now a detective, the last thing he expects when her first love returns to town is having to arrest her for murder. He could never forget Allie, or that she skipped out on him without a word years ago. Sparks fly when these two meet again face to face.

My favorite part of writing is the research. For this book, I got to go off into the world of historical reenactors (Allie does Calamity Jane shows and Annie Oakley performances.) And then there was prepping. The unfortunate murder victim in the story is the town recluse, and expert level prepper, who is convinced that the apocalypse is just around the corner. In preparation, he hoards supplies, but when someone else wants his prepper stash, things end badly for him.
When I started writing this story, nobody expected Covid yet. I never  thought I'd become an amateur prepper myself, filling the unreachable top shelf of the pantry with "just in case" supplies. Now I can relate to the town recluse! Especially since we rarely go out these days.

If you aren't familiar with my Broslin Creek books yet, this is the perfect time to start to binge read. The books are standalone, so it doesn't really matter where you start. Enjoy!

Allie Bianchi, the town bum's daughter, just blew back into town. UP. TO. NO. GOOD. No doubt. Well, Harper Finnegan is a police detective now. She's not going to get her hooks into him so easily this time. Not when there's murder afoot! You just watch and see.

On the verge of losing her business, Allie Bianchi, a historical reenactor, must return to her hometown that never accepted her family. The sooner she leaves again, the better. But when the town recluse is murdered on the night of her arrival, his prepper hoard stolen, she becomes Detective Harper Finnegan's number one suspect. In what universe is her town black sheep ex-boyfriend now a cop, arresting her for murder?
