#Interview with Juliette Cross of Don't Hex and Drive

We're excited to help Juliette Cross celebrate her upcoming release of Don't Hex and Drive, the second book in the Stay a Spell series. Be sure to pick up your copy next Tuesday, September 8th on Amazon

Linda: You have created such a fun paranormal romance world with the Stay a Spell series, where do you draw your ideas from?

Juliette: For this series, I was inspired by all of the romcoms I’ve read over the past two years for our podcast Smart Women Read Romance. I wanted to see if I could write a lighter, more fun but still steamy PNR. So that’s where it started. My ideas come from everywhere honestly. Art, movies, music, places, people. There’s no one place. But I knew the lower Garden District, which feels kind of like a small town within the bustling city of New Orleans with its cool pubs and cafes, would be the ideal setting for this witchy new PNR world.

Linda: We all need a hero, and strong heroines rock! Was there a real-life inspiration behind Devraj and Isadora? Who would you envision playing these characters if this story made it to screen?

Juliette: The popular Bollywood star Ranveer Singh was my first inspiration for Devraj. I wanted a charming, confident, and outgoing character to juxtapose Isadora’s shy, quiet personality. For Isadora, I didn’t have one person in mind. However, I did interview my niece and co-host of SWRR, Jessen, because she is a definite introvert. Me being the opposite (more like Evie in WOLF GONE WILD), I needed to know how an introvert who had some social anxiety would react and feel in certain situations.

Linda: The setting of Don't Hex and Drive is New Orleans. As a native of Louisiana yourself, what is the one can’t-be-missed place to visit in Nola?

Juliette:  Oh, wow. This is so difficult, but I’d probably say Jackson Square. It’s the heart of the French Quarter where local artists sell their works, the St. Louis Cathedral towers in all of its beauty, the popular Café du Monde corners one spot where you can drink café au lait and eat beignets while people-watching, and local street performers do their thing. So I’d say this is a must-see spot.

Linda: Do you have a favorite scene from Don't Hex and Drive that you can share with us today?

Juliette:  I have two actually. I don’t want to spoil too much, so I’ll be vague. But there is an intimate scene between Devraj and Isadora in her bedroom that was emotional, intense, and sexy. I really loved writing that scene. Also, the final chapter where Devraj declares his love in a fun way. I still laugh when I think about it.

Linda:  What can we look forward to next in the Stay a Spell series?

Juliette:  Next up is Violet and Nico’s book, WITCHES GET STITCHES. A pack of werewolves is coming to town, and that does NOT make Nico and Mateo/Alpha happy. It’s going to be a super fun ride.

Notoriously bad at peopling, Isadora Savoie spends most of her time in the greenhouse or at the local animal shelter, using her Conduit powers of growth and healing. Content to remain in the background of the Savoie sister shenanigans, she’s reluctantly roped into the mystery of missing neighborhood girls. Now, she’s partnered with a flashy, flirty vampire to find them before it’s too late.

Devraj Kumar has seen and done it all. Three hundred years roaming the earth as a Stygorn—a legendary vampire warrior who operates in the shadows—has its perks. But ennui has set in. That is, until he has a run-in—literally—with an intriguing witch while on a new assignment in New Orleans. Fascinated by her resistance to his charms, Devraj can’t help but push her buttons in an effort to get to know the shy witch. Fortunately for him, she’s been recruited by the Lord of Vampires to assist Devraj on the case.

Between a Bollywood marathon, supernatural dating app, secret package, and sexy driving instruction, Isadora is in over her head. And Devraj? After just one taste, he’s playing for keeps.

And don't miss....
