Each holding part of the story in their own way, but when combined create something new and irresistible. Inked Magic is so much more than an erotica book. The story line is rich and deep enough to keep you entranced, it just gets broken up with steamy scenes every now and then.

Young Adult Paranormal Romance- What's up with that?

I wrote an article not too long ago on why I chose to write about were-wolves. Out of all the other paranormal, supernatural species, I chose were-wolves. I wrote it because I was asked that question a lot. Today I had a lady who I was talking with about my books ask me why do I write YA Paranormal Romance books. I smiled and said, "I'm glad you asked". What did I tell her? Let me share it with you.

First and foremost I love the supernatural and paranormal. It's interesting, it's the unknown. The things that go bump in the night and things that are just beyond fantastical are exciting to me. I like being able to step into a world that has nothing to do with the one I live in. Don't get me wrong, I love my life. God has blessed me immensely, but he also gave us imagination and how fun it is to use it. To be able to create a world that could never exist. But if it could anything I imagine could be a part of that world. Vampires, Were-Wolves, Fae, Djinn, Mermaids, Giants, Witches, Wizards on and on we could go. The characters are only part of the paranormal world. The atmosphere, the lay of the land, the vegetation, the water all of these things can be altered, built on in the paranormal realm.

Crystal: Hi Catherine and welcome to Reading Between the Wines. Thank you so much for taking the time to join us today! Let’s start out by getting to know you a little better. What do you like to do when you’re not writing, do you have any hobbies?


CM: Hobbies, hmmm, my family insists I’m a type A workaholic, so I wouldn’t say I have standard hobbies.  I tend to stay on the go.  In my spare time, I volunteer at my local Humane Society, where I serve on their Board of Directors.  I also foster motherless puppies and special needs dogs for the shelter.  For relaxation, I love to read books by the pool or on the beach.


Crystal: And that brings us to my next question! I think it is wonderful that you volunteer for your local shelter; are you fostering any furry friends right now? 


CM: We had an especially exciting batch of fosters over Christmas.  A mother beagle came to the shelter in labor.  I fostered her, and her four puppies were born at my house.  They’ve all recently been adopted.  We’re eagerly awaiting the next litter of puppies.

To kill, or not to kill, that is the question!

At the end of Pandora’s Box (Book three in the Immortalis series) I left readers with a question, “Is Lysander truly dead, or can he be saved?”

No, I’m not going to reveal his fate now, you’ll just have to read Soulstone to find out.

I know, I’m such a meanie! =p

But, it brings up a great topic. Killing off characters.

As an author, my characters are somewhat like my children. Each one has a backstory, a current story, and a potential future. I’ve taken a lot of time developing them.  I’ve created them from scratch and watched them virtually grow. So, with that in mind you’d think it would be abhorred to me to end their fictional existence.  I mean, what mother would ever want to harm their child, right?
