#Interview with Kristy Woodson Harvey of Under the Southern Sky

Any fans of This Is Us out there? If so, our guest today is going to be a huge hit! For those non-watchers, don’t worry, you’ll be hooked by the beautiful, heartbreaking writing! Join me in welcoming Kristy Woodson Harvey!

It's spring, which makes me think of baby chicks and bunnies and fresh green grass—in short, babies! But it’s a difficult truth that babies don’t always come as easily as spring. And IVF is what starts the whole story in UNDER THE SOUTHERN SKY, your newest release. You have a journalist, Amelia, doing a story on abandoned embryos and finds one of her childhood friends and late wife (who only recently passed away) on the list. Talk about a double whammy for Parker, he struggles with the loss of his wife and then has to determine what to do with her embryos. What’s the most important message you wanted readers to get from Parker’s life and struggles?

First, I love this so much. So well said. For me, this book is about family—the one we create and the one we’re born into—and how incredibly important it is to define what that looks like for you. Both Parker and Amelia come into this story with really finite ideas about what family looks like, and it changes for both of them. That’s a message too, I think: We’re allowed to change our minds!

We’ve colonized Mars, but we never should’ve come back.

When the first astronauts of the Mars Colony returned to Earth, they brought a mysterious, metal box they had found half-buried in the red dirt, called the Mars Cube. The scientists assigned to uncover its secrets tested it, scanned it, tried to blow it up, and everything in between. Then they accidentally opened it.

Biosafety level-4 laboratories, BSL4, hold the most deadly viruses on the Earth, and Juliet handled them daily. Her research at the CDC landed her a position on the Mars Cube Investigative Team in the world’s only BSL-5 lab. The only drawback: Her ex was one of the astronauts that brought back the Cube.

What was held inside the Cube shouldn’t have gotten out. It shouldn’t have ever been exposed to our planet because the Mars Strain is now loose and killing at a 100 percent mortality rate. Juliet is fighting for our very existence, Jake is working with the Mars Colonists to decipher the Cube’s holographic message for a clue, and someone wants to take over the Mars Program for themselves. They’re all watching the clock, and it's about to run out.

#Interview with Eloisa James of Wilde Child

We’re crazy excited about today’s guest. It’s not every day we get to chat with one of the staples in historical romance and yes, dear reader, you’re right—that means we’re talking to the one and only Eloisa James!!

WILDE CHILD isn’t the first book in this series to have a woman wearing breeches. Betsy is sporting a pair on the cover of SAY NO TO THE DUKE. But this time it’s her sister, Joan, who is conniving her way into a pair. And for those of us following the series, we’ve been waiting for the blonde-headed Wilde child to have her story because the Wildes all have dark hair…except for Joan who appeared after her mother ran off with a Prussian. How does her questionable parentage affect Joan?

Being known to be the daughter of the handsome (yellow-haired) Prussian who stole away a duchess has an effect on a child, of course. Many people might grow up feeling shamed, but Joan is confident in being loved, and comfortable in her skin. I would say that it made her feel free: for example, since Thaddeus could never marry  her, she can be herself around him. Since young women are all nervous around a future duke, he finds that part of her personality  enthralling.

We’re loving how Joan throws propriety to the wind and goes after what she wants, which is to perform on stage before a real audience. And we absolutely love that Joan will be performing Hamlet while her real life is a reflection of Hamlet. Which theme in Hamlet is your favorite?
