5 Reasons You'll Love Aidan from Blade of Darkness by Dianne Duvall + #Giveaway

Top 5 Reasons You’ll Love Aidan

Hello! Thanks for joining me!  I’m happy to be here at Reading Between the Wines Book Club, celebrating the release of BLADE OF DARKNESS, the seventh book in my Immortal Guardians series.  (If you’re new to the series, don’t worry.  The books can be read as stand-alones.  You’ll just be more familiar with the secondary characters if you read them in order.)

Today I thought I would help you get to know Aidan, the hero, by giving you five reasons Dana fell in love with him . . . along with some snippets from the story that I hope will pique your interest.

1 - He’s tall, dark, and handsome.

The man who stood just inside the door had to be three or four inches above six feet. His thick black hair was short and so wavy it almost curled. But it by no means lent him a feminine air. His strong jaw bore just a hint of a five-o’clock shadow. Deep brown eyes captured hers and sparkled with amusement beneath dark brows.

Because she was drooling over him?

She let her gaze dip lower.

What woman wouldn’t drool over him? He was freaking hot.

A black T-shirt stretched taut over broad shoulders, revealing a very muscled chest and thick biceps. Casual black slacks hugged slim hips, what she guessed would be a really nice ass if he turned around, and muscular thighs.

His lips stretched in a friendly smile. “Good evening.”

His lovely bass voice flowed through her like hot chocolate on a cold winter’s night.

Straightening, she struck a dramatic pose and touched her fingertips to one temple in much the same way Shawn Spencer did in the television series Psych. “Aidan O’Byrne?” she intoned.

His smile broadened, revealing straight white teeth. “Aye. Let me guess. You saw me coming.”

Grinning, she abandoned her pose and shrugged. “Kind of hard not to when you make an appointment.”

He laughed. “Would you be the charming lass I spoke with over the phone then?”

Damned if she didn’t feel a little blush of pleasure heat her cheeks as she strode forward and offered her hand. “That would be me.” And his accent was even sexier in person. “Dana Pembroke.”

He took her hand in his much larger one and brought it to his lips for a kiss. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

2 - He loves strong women.

Offering Dana a smile, he extended his hand in front of her, palm up, silently asking her to relinquish her weapon.

Narrowing her eyes in displeasure, she handed him the tranquilizer gun.

Damn, he loved her. There really didn’t seem to be anything she wouldn’t do or anyone she wouldn’t take on to protect him. That was actually a little terrifying.

3 - He’s passionate.

Dipping his head, he touched his lips to hers.

Her breath caught. Her heart stopped, then began to pound in her chest so loudly she wondered if he could hear it.

He tilted his head, increased the pressure. And that first tentative caress soon became a fiery exploration that made her whole body burn.

Dropping her purse and keys, Dana slid her arms around him and flattened her hands on the muscles of his broad back. A deep rumble of approval emanated from him as she leaned into his hard form, pressing her beasts to his chest and washboard abs.

Never had she been so turned on by a kiss.

4 - He has a very appealing sense of humor.

“Great,” Dana groused a she stomped into the bathroom with a pile of clothes tucked under one arm. “Don’t worry about the nutcase who’s trying to kill you. Worry about pissing off the great and powerful Oz.” She slammed the door behind her.

Laughing, Aidan grabbed a couple of katanas.

The bathroom door eased open enough for Dana to poke her head out. She sent him a rueful smile. “Sorry. The whole I’m not a morning person thing might have been a bit of an understatement.”

Closing the distance between them, he pressed a quick kiss to her lips. “You’ve gotten very little sleep in the past forty-eight hours. And I think you’re cute when you’re cranky.”

She laughed. “Then maybe you’re the nutcase.”

Aidan chuckled.

5 - He’s honest.

Dana picked up her fork and speared some salad. “So.” Tucking the crunchy veggies in her mouth, she chewed and swallowed. “You’re smitten with a psychic, are you?”

Relief smoothed the lines in Aidan’s brow. His lips tilted up. “Very much so.”

“Because of the visions?” she asked, trying not to blush.

His smile grew as he picked up his own fork. “I was smitten before the visions. The visions just gave me hope that you might one day be smitten, too.”

And damned if her heart didn’t give a little jump in her chest. “Don’t read my thoughts!”

He chuckled. “I won’t. I’m afraid if I do, I’ll find you trying to think of a diplomatic way to end our date early.”

I admit, Aidan’s ability to kick ass was among my original top five things you’ll love about him, but the examples I most wanted to share for that one all contained spoilers for fans of the series. LOL.

I hope you’ll enjoy Aidan and Dana’s story! ☺
