A Drink, A Book and Holiday Cheer: Jaci Burton

Happy Friday lovelies and welcome to the holiday event that Shannon (Cocktails and Books) and I have planned for you! A Drink, A Book and Holiday Cheer will run Friday - Sunday and we have some wonderful authors scheduled to stop by both of our blogs each day to share their favorite holiday drink recipes and maybe a few books as well! Every post will be linked to the events schedule page *here* so you can check that out at anytime, just by clicking the event button on the sidebar!
Kicking off the party, I'd like to welcome the fabulous Jaci Burton who is visiting us with a recipe perfect for snuggling by the fire with and a book or two too!

Hot Cranberry Cider

(from Paula Deen, via The Food Network. Link below)

 Ingredients
•          1/4 cup packed brown sugar
•          3 cinnamon sticks, plus additional to use as stirrers
•          1 tablespoon whole cloves
•          6 cups cranberry juice
•          8 cups apple juice
•          Light rum, brandy, or bourbon, optional
•
Directions
Put the sugar, cinnamon sticks, and cloves in the basket of a coffee percolator. Put the juices in the bottom of the percolator. Let the mixture perk as if making coffee. Serve with cinnamon stick stirrers, if desired, and with a little rum, brandy, or bourbon as well.

This is a great recipe to enjoy on a cold winter’s night. Calliope from my book, A RARE GIFT, would fix this for Wyatt and snuggle up with him when they’re snowed in to get him all warm and toasty after a frosty day working construction outside. They’d relax, drink, and talk about their day. Okay, Calliope would likely do all the talking. Wyatt’s more the quiet, listening type. But he would enjoy getting Calliope drunk. He’d probably opt for the rum or bourbon straight up. ;-)

You can read more about A RARE GIFT here, and the link to this recipe is here

Happy Holidays!

Jaci

A Rare GiftA Rare Gift
Book Two in the Kent Brothers Series
With a disastrous marriage behind him, Wyatt Kent has no interest in getting involved with any woman, let alone his ex-wife’s younger sister. But when Calliope Andrews hires him to build an addition onto her daycare center, Wyatt can’t help but notice she’s a desirable woman, as warm and funny as his ex was cold and aloof.
Calliope fell hard for Wyatt the first time he walked through the door of her family’s home, and can’t believe her sister let him get away. He’s still the star of all her fantasies, and she’s determined to prove to him she’s nothing like his manipulative ex. Wyatt may be all business, but Calliope sees the way he looks at her when he’s supposed to be working…
It’s not long before Wyatt and Calliope are keeping each other warm on cold December nights. But it’s going to take a Christmas miracle for Wyatt to put his trust in love a second time.

All She Wants for ChristmasAll She Wants for Christmas
Book One in the Kent Brothers Series
Big Star, Small-Town Christmas
Country singer Riley Jensen would never have returned to her small Missouri hometown if her publicist hadn't come up with the scheme to tape a Christmas special there. So she never would have known that the man who broke her heart at eighteen—causing her to flee to Nashville—was now a widower with a seven-year-old daughter. Riley has ten years of angst-filled hit songs and Grammy awards to prove she doesn't need Ethan Kent. But suddenly, she can't help thinking of all she gave up by running away...
Ethan Kent knew Riley had the talent and the drive to make it as a singer. He also knew she wasn't going anywhere if she stayed in their nowhere town for him. Then one night and one huge mistake sent her running on the road to fame. Which doesn't mean he ever stopped loving her...
But with so much separating them, can Riley and Ethan find their way back together one magical country Christmas?

  1. Thank you for the recipe! It's definitely almost hot drink weather. I'd use Woodchuck hard apple cider instead of apple juice.
