Adara is starblessed. Promised to the fae crowned prince at her birth for the sake of her kingdom. It's a fate she never wanted, a destiny she hates. And when she comes face to face with her betrothed and the queen, Adara knows that it is one that they will never allow her to run from. But it is not the two-face crowned prince or the machiavellian queen that she fears the most. It is the dark and enigmatic half-brother to the prince, and the treacherous feelings that he inspires in her. Will he be her savior, or will he be her doom?
I really enjoyed this tale! A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows checked off all of boxes for a great romantasy. There was intriguing magic, perilous secrets, who can I trust characters, a compelling story-line, and entertaining dialogue. Evren's character captivated me, and he has such a filthy mouth. *wink, wink* I did tend to stumble over the character's names when reading though. Adara and Evren just didn't flow off my mental tongue for some reason. And while the twists were predictable, I couldn't help to keep turning the pages! The cliffhanger was brutal and I look forward to continuing on with the series. Can Adara trust Evren? Or is Adara better off with Gavriel, the evil she knows? What does the prophecy hold for Adara and her future? Gah!
While the story flowed well, I felt the cadence was off in the narration. That may just be how I read the author's voice. There were a few run-on sentences as well, and the chapters were long. When reading at night it was difficult to keep my eyes open until I could get to a stopping point. All in all though, a great read and I look forward to continuing on with the Stars and Shadows series!
