The stars are about to align in the newest Shaughnessy brothers romance!

WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE
Brilliant astrophysicist Dr. Owen Shaughnessy feels more connected to the cosmos than to people. He's great with calculations, but when he leads a team of scientists to study a famous meteor shower, he doesn't factor in his free-spirited artist assistant Brooke Matthews.

LOVE CAN DAZZLE YOU
Polar opposites in personality, the friction between them threatens to derail the project. But the beauty and mystery of the night sky draw Owen and Brooke together―and she's going to surprise him in ways the stars never could.

Linda's Thoughts:

“You have the ability to see into the sky and talk to the stars,” she said softly. “They twinkle just for you, you know.”

A Sky Full of Stars by Samantha Chase pulled at my heartstrings and made them sing! I’ve enjoyed every installment I’ve read so far in Samantha’s Shaughnessy Brothers series and positively loved this story. It’s actually hands-down my favorite in the series to-date as I’m a sucker for strong, caring, nerdy guy heroes. The heroine was awesomely written too. I connected with and liked them both from the get-go and catching up with previous favorite characters was a big plus too! This is the story of Dr. Owen Shaughnessy and Brooke Matthews.

The book opens with a prologue which drew me in right away with a moving flashback to Owen’s childhood. Readers are then fast forwarded to present day where our brainiac astrophysicist is giving a lecture when a beautiful flower-child arrives to his class late. Afterwards, Owen’s mentor and friend at the college introduces Owen to Brooke, his artist niece – the same girl. He highly recommends that Owen consider hiring Brooke to accompany and assist Owen with his upcoming Red Rock, Nevada project – focused on teaching people about meteors. Owen, though, is a loner and not comfortable around people. After giving the offer his due consideration, Owen decides not to take Brooke’s proposal… and thinks the discussion is done. But, fate has other plans…

I loved Owen and Brooke together. They each brought out the best in the other.  I had many treasured scenes, but my top one has to be when the two took off on a spur of a moment adventure surprising themselves and their families.

While A Sky Full of Stars is the fifth installment in Samantha’s Shaughnessy Brothers series, it still works perfectly well as a stand alone, if that is your preference. I’ve actually read this series out-of-order and had absolutely no issues doing so.

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from A Sky Full of Stars:

“You’re not alone, Owen, It’s not just you. And you know what? It’s not a bad thing to be a little bit nervous around a woman.” He paused. “I think the difference…when it’s the right woman, those nerves make you want to be a better person, a better man.”
---

She watched him for a moment – noticed how he was staring at the steering wheel and how he seemed to be thinking about something but she had no idea what.
Turning in her seat, she faced him. “Owen –“
“I’d like to kiss you,” he blurted out.
Her eyes went wide, and her heart beat madly in her chest. “You…you would?”
---

He looked down and saw a piece of chocolate being offered to him. Brooke’s delicate hand was mere inches from his mouth. Was he supposed to take it from her hand with his or simply… bite it?
He opted for biting, and as he took the sweet chocolate into his mouth, his lips grazed her fingers, and he heard her gasp softly beside him.
But not in a bad way.
His heart rate kicked up, and as he slowly finished chewing, he reached up, took her hand, and brought her fingers close to his lips. He swallowed and then kissed her fingertips – licking the spot where there was still a little chocolate – and heard Brooke moan.
Sexiest sound ever.

I don’t know why it took me so long to start reading this installment, but I’m so glad I did. I laughed and cried and have not been able to stop thinking about the story since I finished it. I even delightfully learned a few things about stars, meteors and our sky! The ending was lovely and wholly satisfying. I highly recommend A Sky Full of Stars to anyone who enjoys well-written, heart-touching, heart-wrenching- in- a- good- way contemporary romances.
