She knows him by reputation
Riley Shaughnessy knew that to stand out in his large family, he'd have to go big. Making a name for himself as a musician wasn't easy, but he followed his dreams to rock-star success. But the relentless expectations of fans is not helping the slump he's in now. So of course the person who attracts him is the woman who is not impressed by fame.

Which gives Riley Shaughnessy a lot to prove
Entertainment reporter Savannah Daly is completely unfazed by pretty-boy rock stars. She's just here to get her interview and write her story. But spending an entire month with the Shaughnessys is going to show Savannah a side of Riley she never could have guessed.

Linda's Thoughts:
He was a living, breathing fantasy. Her own rock and roll fantasy at that! And every minute of every day it was getting more and more difficult to ignore the attraction brewing between them.

Samantha Chase gives legendary rock-star Riley Shaughnessy his own happy-ever-after in This Is Our Song. The book’s leading lady is entertainment reporter Savannah Daly. The couple’s entertaining story takes place on two coasts - in both California and North Carolina.

Even though this is the fourth installment in the series, This Is Our Song can be fully enjoyed as a standalone as the romantic relationship is fully contained within this novel. I’m betting that once you read This Is Our Song, you will want to catch up with the series. Each book has been a page-turner.
As the story opens, we learn that Riley Shaughnessy is struggling. He’s hit a brick wall while working on songs for his solo album. For the first time in his life, the music isn’t there for Riley. Regardless, Riley is being pressured by his manager and his record label to get the album done. His manager decides that Riley needs a cathartic push to break the frustrating creative funk he is experiencing. So… the manager sets up a month-long stint with an entertainment reporter for Rock The World magazine with a promised extensive multi-episode end product. Riley doesn’t care for reporters and doesn’t need nor want the interference now.

Savannah Daly doesn’t like Riley or Riley’s band. She believes Riley to be like other rock stars she’s written about - a spoiled rich brat. When her boss tells her in no uncertain terms he’s pulling her off a story she really wanted, to do a story on Riley Shaughnessy, she’s understandably upset.

Riley is my new book boyfriend. He’s a normal guy who just happens to be a rock star. AND he loves his family. He and Savannah had chemistry galore and I really enjoyed watching them grow to understand that they were perfect for each other. Just don’t expect smooth sailing along the way.

The love and caring of family ties plays a very important part in this story as every Shaughnessy in the close-knit family is a supporting character.  The Shaughnessys may play and tease each other but, when push comes to shove, the Shaughnessys have each other’s back.

Following please find a few of my favorite quotes from This Is Our Song:

Sometimes you can miss out on something amazing by being in a hurry.
---

Her eyes widened as he stalked her from across the kitchen.
“There is no way I can ignore you – it’s impossible. Just like it would be impossible to stop breathing.” And then, because he figured they were already fighting, he might as well poke the bear a little more. So he grabbed her and kissed her. Hard. Wet. And wild.
---

“What is it you want, Savannah?” His voice was so low it was almost a growl.
She looked up at his face finally as she licked her lips. He was going to make her say the words – to tell him why she was up here, knocking on his door and ogling him like the world’s greatest treat.
“You,” she said, her voice barely audible.

As far as favorite scenes, the whole book is teeming with them. From the laughable moment Riley and Savannah first met on Hermosa Beach to the awesome epilogue. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Riley’s haircut. See… before Savannah became a reporter, she was a hair stylist. At one point, Riley had to make a public appearance and he’d forgotten to get his hair cut. Savannah stepped in to save the day… in an unforgettable way. Riley said it best:
“That was the hottest haircut ever.”

Owen Shaughnessy, Riley’s twin, is very different from Riley, but very close to him also. Owen is super smart, but socially awkward. I’m thinking that the next book, A Sky Full of Stars, is Owen’s story, since Owen’s expertise is astrophysics and that is the branch of space science that explains the birth, life and death of stars. In addition, Owen is the only brother whose story remains untold. We are just lacking Owen’s and that of the brothers’ sister, Darcy. I’m sharing the following excerpt to illustrate how closely the twins are intertwined:

His phone rang and when he saw his twin brother’s face on the screen, Riley nearly sagged with relief. Before he could say hello, Owen was talking.
“As a scientist, it’s hard for me to accept this twin telepathy, yet I found myself driven to call you because I felt you were really sad. Are you okay?”
Riley smiled and sat on the couch and relaxed. “Come on…you mean to tell me after all these years you doubt the telepathy thing? I would have thought you’d be anxious to run experiments on us.”

This Is Our Song is sweet, sexy and delightful and an enjoyable read from beginning to end. I would recommend This Is Our Song to anyone who enjoys cute and fun contemporary romances.
