#CharacterInterview with Lachlan Wallace of The Time Traveler's Christmas by Amy Jarecki + #Giveaway

Character Name: Lachlan Wallace, knight, and karate world champion title holder
Philosophy on life: Work hard, play hard, feel hard.
From: Modern Day (the son of William Wallace and Eva MacKay from Rise of a Legend and In the Kingdom’s Name)
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 260
Build: Muscular in peak condition
Distinctive features: Dark brown hair, thick with lazy curls and a dark, closely cropped beard. Midnight blue eyes with a piercing stare.
Positive Characteristics: Energetic, efficient, optimistic, industrious, self-propelled, practical, responsible, empowering, competent, adaptable and generous…and a world-class martial artist.
Negative Characteristics (at times): Self-centered, pretentious, overly competitive, defensive and, on occasion, brooding.

Lachlan is an achiever and wants to see everyone succeed. He gets things done, though sometimes through nothing but brute strength and perseverance. The one thing Lachlan values most is loyalty.

Describe yourself what is your worst and best quality?
I’d say my best quality is honor. I will protect those I love with my life. My worst quality? I can be a bit insensitive at times.

What is the one thing you wish other people knew about you?
I wish others knew that beneath this rugged exterior lies a kind heart.

What is your biggest secret something no one knows about?
Once I time traveled to the fourteenth century, I had no choice but to keep things secret. No one knows who my parents are, or that I was born in the twenty-first century. If they ever found out, I’d be led to the gallows or worse.

What are you most afraid of?
There are not many things I fear, though if I ever lost Christina I would be devastated.

What do you want more than anything?
Christina—but it took me a long time to realize it.

How would you describe your sense of fashion?
When I arrived on the fourteenth-century battlefield, I was wearing a pair of sweatpants and my favorite sweatshirt with a picture of the evolution of karate. I didn’t even have a pair of shoes on my feet. I quickly learned when in Rome, do as the Romans, and I now mostly wear a shirt and kilt. Christina even had a leather coutun made for me—I look just like my da, I’d reckon.

How much of a rebel are you?
Pardon me, but I am a Scot. A man can be no more rebellious than that.

What do you considered to be your greatest achievement?
That depends on whom you ask, but I would say changing Andrew’s loyalties and bringing him to Scotland’s side was a win for the ages.

What is your idea of happiness?
A fine woman, fine whisky and a crackling fire.

What is your current state of mind?
Amused. Relaxed…ready for happiness…

What is your most treasured possession?
It used to be the medallion. Without it I couldn’t go home…but you’ll have to read The Time Traveler’s Christmas to see what changes my mind.

What is your most marked characteristic?
*wink* You tell me, m’lady.

What is it that you most dislike?
Backstabbers and thieves.

Which living person do you, most despise?
Edward II.

What is your greatest regret?
That I didn’t see through Angela sooner.

What is the quality you most like in a man?
Honor.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?
Hm. Now that is difficult. Aside from the obvious, I like a woman who has a spark in her eyes.

Who is your favorite hero?
That would be my father, William Wallace. He was a warrior of epic repute who united a broken nation during a time of heinous oppression. He ultimately gave his life for Scotland and will never be forgotten.

Which living person do you most admire?
In my time or Christina’s? Well, I’ll give you both. In my time I most admire my mother, Eva MacKay, she was hurled back to the time of William Wallace and stood beside him, helped him become the legend he is today. Then, I had the honor of meeting Robert the Bruce in Christina’s time. He’s a rugged and decisive man. One who would make a good leader, no matter the century.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
I wouldn’t change a thing.

What is your motto?
“Be true to your heart. Only then can win the hearts of others.”

A man’s life can fall apart in an instant…

Tougher than oxhide, Lachlan Wallace can take about anything except a breakup call from his wife two minutes before competing in the Karate Championship of the World. Arriving home with a loss, he agrees to watch his uncle’s cat over the holidays. Or so he thinks—until he awakes on a fourteenth century battlefield beside a woman fighting for her life.

Never underestimate a woman’s determination…

Taken from her at the age of two, Lady Christina de Moray hasn’t seen her son in thirteen years. While traveling with Robert the Bruce’s army to exchange an English prisoner for the lad, a battle erupts. Losing the fight, Christina is rescued by a mysterious warrior while the English escape with her son yet again.

And never bet against the potency of passion…

Left with no way back to the twenty-first century, Lachlan agrees to help Christina rescue the lad from his English captors. If the heir is not returned by Christmas next, the Bruce will make his decision whom to grant the de Moray lands, including Lady Christina’s hand. Once his duty is fulfilled, Lachlan hopes to discover a way home—as long as he keeps his mind on the goal and ignores his growing love for the spirited woman who gives him her trust—and her heart.
