Interview with author, Liora Blake, of True North!

Bad boy rockers are always welcome here…and so is this author who wrote about one. Welcome to the blog today, Liora Blake!

Lexi: Whew! Way to kick off your author career! True North is the first book in your True series and it has been well received. The reviews out there say the heat is just right and the writing is even better. How excited are you to hear that?

Gosh, that's been the best! Getting feedback that readers enjoyed the story (and the writing) is incredibly gratifying. I've basically been holding my breath and crossing my fingers for over a year now, worrying about how it would be received, so it's amazing to have such lovely reviews so far!

Lexi: Anything of worth takes time, and TODAY True North will officially be available. How long did you work on this book, from start to finish?

Well, there was an early version of TRUE NORTH that I finished a million years ago, but it was more of a chick lit book than a romance. About three years ago, I started over with the intention of writing a straight-up contemporary romance, keeping the two main characters but not much else. Honestly, I don't think I kept more than one or two scenes from the original version—in the end, it became an entirely new book.

Lexi: Is there anything that has taken you by surprise on this book’s journey?

The editorial process has been interesting—in a good way. I'm essentially a lights-out-under-the-covers-with-a-flashlight kind of writer (I don't have a writers group, beta readers, critique partners, etc.) so working with an expert to help guide the story more effectively is new for me. But I've enjoyed the collaboration that comes with developmental edits.

Lexi: Kate Mosely sounds like she might have a bit of you in her. A small-town Montana, though you live in Colorado, writer. Did you have Kate do anything that you have always wanted to do?

Other than write a critically acclaimed bestselling novel and have a rock star fall all over himself to woo me? Not really. Although, having a stylist like Kellan at my disposal for a day probably has its charms!

Lexi: Kate’s love story with Trax is irresistible; they meet on stage and get to know one another, showing us that Trax is more than just a rocker. Thanks for stopping by the blog to visit with us and to share True North! Congrats on the release! Cheers to the True series!

Thank you so much!

What happens when a bad-boy celebrity rocker meets a small-town bestselling novelist? Find out in this first book in the sizzling new True series by Liora Blake!

While most novelists would consider jetting off to Hollywood for a TV interview rather exciting, small-town Montana writer Kate Mosely finds it all a bit exhausting. After losing her husband in a car accident where she was behind the wheel, Kate has finally found her bearings in the world again, rebuilding a simple but stable life. And even if that means a lot of lonely nights watching old movies and quiet days writing obituaries for her hometown newspaper, Kate’s not sure she’s ready for her life to change—again.

Until she shares the stage—and a whole heap of carnal gazes—with rock star Trevor “Trax” Jenkins. Despite his intimidating on-stage bravado, underneath it Kate discovers a man with a Rilke poem tattooed on his arm, an appreciation for cronuts, and a snarky wit that matches her own.

As she and Trevor explore their heated chemistry, the scarred parts of Kate’s heart begin to heal, making room for a love so passionate it makes her want long-forgotten things equal parts naughty, heart-swelling, and joyful. But when a searing exposé in a trashy gossip magazine sends Kate running, will it threaten their chances at forever?
