Q&A with author, Kristen Callihan of Soulbound (#Giveaway)

Hi Kristen, and congratulations on the release of SOULBOUND, the 6th book in your Darkest London series! For readers who are new to the series, can you please give us a quick overview of it?

Sure! The Darkest London is a gaslamp fantasy series in which Victorian London is unaware of the supernatural beings living amongst them. I like to think of the books as chronicles in the lives of these beings. Some stories are interconnected, but there isn’t an over all story arc. Each book is part mystery, thriller, romance, and adventure.

Eliza spurned Adam in the past, leaving him alone and forlorn, but SOULBOUND is their second chance. Why do you think us readers love second chance romances so much?

I think we find couples with a tumultuous history interesting because there is already so much invested in the relationship. Obviously they stay in each other’s lives because there is something between them. We want to see all that suffering and strife grow into love. And we want to see that anger turn to lust. It’s a huge payoff for the reader.

As I mentioned in the beginning, SOULBOUND is the 6th book in the Darkest London series. How do you keep the series fresh and interesting?

Try not to write the same story over again. lol. But it’s true. Each story has to have a different theme. Each character has to be approached as their own person with unique thoughts, feelings, and outlook. On the surface, it sounds easy. But when you really get into a series, it’s quite hard to keep that originality. Hopefully, I succeeded.

Is there an end in sight?

Yes, the next book, FOREVERMORE will be the last in the series.

Using just one sentence, why should readers pick up Eliza and Adam's story today?

Read a sample.  lol. But it’s true. I don’t think any one sentence will compel a reader to pick up a book other than they like how it sounds.
