They are tough, hard working, and have the manners their mama gave them. Is it no wonder that readers are in love with the ultimate hero — cowboys. Today we’ve got Western romance authors Carolyn Brown and Linda Broday to introduce their newest ranchin’ heroes — by picking the perfect country western song to describe these cowboys. Take it away ladies!

Country music plays a big part in The Trouble with Texas Cowboys since Sawyer and Jill spend most of their evenings running the bar for her Aunt Polly. Sawyer’s first thought when Jill was standing there with a shot gun trained on his chest was “T.R.O.U.B.L.E.” by Travis Trett. Although Jill doesn’t say so in the book, I feel sure she’d describe Sawyer by humming, “Doin’ What She Likes” by Blake Shelton. The lyrics say that she likes it when he runs his fingers through her long hair and when he sings her old silly songs and throws in words where they don’t belong. And that she likes it when he tells her how good she looks in them blue jeans and holding her all night. I don’t know if Blake had Sawyer in mind when he sang this song but it could be the theme song if they ever made The Trouble with Texas Cowboys into a movie.Linda Broday:

ReplyDeleteI like the choices of music for these two books. I had to go to Amazon to hear Travis Trett's song because it was unfamiliar to me. But I was already very familiar with and fond of the Eagle's song, Desperado. Both are "right on" for the subjects of the two books. Thanks for the interesting post! jdh2690@gmail.vom
