Angela Addams's Cursed (Guest Post/Giveaway)

Please give a warm welcome to author Angela Addams who seems to share the same musical taste as lil' ole' moi. *grin*

5 Favorite Bands

I’ve been to a lot of concerts over the years. Some of them were super-amazing-mind-blowingly awesome and some just blew. The best concerts are charged with energy. That moment when the lights drop and there is complete silence for two seconds before the crowd goes ballistic –that’s what I love…that feeling of electricity. It’s one of the reasons I started writing about my werewolf rock stars and their band, Riot, I wanted to explore that moment in a manuscript, even if it was just one little scene. I was asked to write a post about favorite bands so I thought I put my own little twist on it and talk about the five favorite bands I’ve seen in concert.

5) Foo Fighters
I’ve only seen the Foo Fighters once but I’d like to go again. I remember the moment that the lights went out there was a wave of energy that came at me from all directions. It was powerful. Lead singer, Dave Grohl is amazing. When he sings Monkey Wrench, he really does only use one breath for: “One-last-thing-before-I-quit-I-never-wanted-any-more-than-I-could-fit-into-my-head-I-still-remember-every-single-word-you-said-and-all-the-shit-that-somehow-came-along-with-it-still-there’s-one-thing-that-comforts-me-since-I-was-always-caged-and-now-I’m-free” One breath, folks…try it, while singing at the top of your lungs, I dare ya.

4) Ministry
I’ve seen Ministry play a few times and have come away with something different each time. For the most part these are the loudest concerts I’ve ever been to and I’m usually on the floor in the pit getting thrashed around by the crowd. This music is hard and heavy and aggressive. It’s a band that most definitely influenced my creation and development of Riot.

3) Blink-182
By far one of the best bands I’ve ever seen live. I mean, I was front row, right of stage and had backstage passes as well, but the concert itself, the energy level of the boys, was incredible. Travis Barker, the drummer, is so proficient with those sticks of his. At one point his kit was raised high from the stage and there were fireworks going off around him. (Which in hindsight was a little ironic considering what happened to him later when he nearly died in a fiery plane crash.) This is a band I would definitely love to see again.

2) Marilyn Manson
I’ve been to every single Manson concert with the exception of the most recent because, really, there comes a time when you just have to let it go. Manson is a showman. His concerts are just as much about the theatrics as the music. I love how he can get a crowd to chant for him every single time. I mean, it’s also terrifying that someone like Marilyn Manson can command thousands in a crowd like he does but it is what it is.

1) NIN
Nine Inch Nails is my all-time favorite band. Ever. The first concert I ever saw them play was in 1994 and it was amazing. I’d just spent 18 hours waiting to meet the band and got autographs, so I was euphorically high all day. There have only ever been two disappointing shows…both of which involved more technology than songs I liked. For one sold out show, I managed to snag some free tickets that put me within feet of the stage. This is the band and the songs that I default to when I’m thinking about Riot.

So, there you have it, my five favorite bands in concert, all of which influenced my development of he characters in Riot and The Order of the Wolf series.

Her biggest mistake comes with fangs…and a nose for tracking her down.

The Order of the Wolf, Book 1

Wherever there’s a lying, cheating scumbag who’s broken a woman’s heart, Vengeance Dealer Darcy Wells is there. So what if she isn’t the most skilled witch around? She’s only using one spell, which leaves the hapless male suffering tormenting lust for one woman. Her.

The beautiful part? This curse comes equipped with a blinding agent, allowing her a clean getaway. Unrequited lust, coming right up! As far as Darcy is concerned, it’s justice served. Her next target: Raven Glock, rock band bassist and drop-dead-gorgeous sex god.

When Raven lays eyes on the luscious Darcy, he gives her what he promises all the starry-eyed groupies who toss their panties at him—one unforgettable night in his bed. Sex with Darcy is so epic that he forgets his cardinal rule: to get her out before morning.

At the crack of sunrise, Darcy serves Raven a face full of cursed ash. But something goes horribly wrong…and she finds herself magically tethered to one pissed-off werewolf.

Worse, breaking the spell could cost her everything…maybe even her life.

Warning: Sexually explicit language, tattoos, piercings, and giant…um…feet. Wet panties are a given. Author assumes no responsibility for spontaneous ravishment of significant others, pool boys, or local pizza delivery personnel.
