*Singing* "Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you happy birthday Reading Between the Wines..." *Epic guitar solo*

Woo! It is RBtWBC THIRD birthday! Can you believe it? I sure can't! Considering Lexi, Crystal L's and myself's extensive love for music and concerts (And of course books!) we figured, what better way to celebrate the date then with a music festival?! That's right folks, we have some of the hottest - and I do mean hottest- fictional bands and their creators joining us for the next three days to celebrate! We'll have special sneak peaks, interviews, tours, puppies, awesome giveaways and more! So go ahead and pull your inner fan girl out, dust off those boots,  slide on the fishnets and lets rock out!

Jessica Topper is a lifelong music and concert junkie who feeds her obsession by writing rock stars and working in the music business. This is one lady that I'd love to have for a concert buddy, please give her a screaming welcome!

LOUDER THAN LOVE author Jessica Topper’s Top 10 Weird and Wonderful (but mostly weird) Musical Memories…in no particular order:

1) Kissing Ozzy Osbourne when I was 14. Yes, my lips touched bat-biting lips.

2) Watching the Tyson-Holyfield fight and the famous ear-biting incident backstage on TV with The Black Crowes. Those boys from Georgia all screamed like little girls.

3) Being trapped in a band trailer at Woodstock 99 because Insane Clown Posse's trailer was next door, and one of the guys was in his full face makeup and riding a scooter around in little circles outside the door. I don't like clowns!

4) Riding a hotel elevator with Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson - he asked me what floor (in order to push the button for me.) It was very hard to tell him the 6th floor without belting out "6! 6! 6! The number of the floor!"

5) Having Slash from Guns N' Roses ride a bicycle past me...and not having a camera. (It was 1988, no camera phones!)

6) Watching Jeff Buckley perform at the Mercury Lounge in NYC, New Year's Eve 1995, and realizing I had held my breath for an entire song. Truly breathless.

7) Admiring a really cool pair of pants on some lady at the coffee counter in D'agostino...and then Joe Perry from Aerosmith turned around. (Dude looked like a lady from behind!)

8) Meeting my future husband at the Wetlands Rock Club.

9) Watching from the promoter box as 14,000 Guns N' Roses fans rioted and trashed the First Union Center in Philadelphia after Axl and the band pulled a no-show.

10) Taking my daughter to her first metal show. (I blogged about here:

Expected publication: September 17th 2013 by Berkley/InterMix (Penguin)

In this powerful debut novel, a young librarian grieves the loss of her husband...and discovers a love that defies classification.
It's been over three years since a train accident made a widow of Katrina Lewis, sending her and her young daughter Abbey back to the suburban town of her youth...the only place that still makes sense. Lauder Lake is the perfect place to hide and heal.
Recluse rocker Adrian "Digger" Graves survived the implosion of his music career, but his muse has long lain dormant. Until Kat hires him to play at her library—not on the basis of his hard rock credentials but rather, because of the obscure kids' TV jingle he wrote years ago. In a case of mistaken identity, Adrian stumbles into the lives of Kat and her comically lovable daughter.
Using tattoos as a timeline, Adrian unfurls his life for Kat. But as the courtship intensifies, it's unclear whose past looms larger: the widow's or the rocker's. Will their demons ever rest, or will they break these soul mates apart?

Jessica Topper is an ex-librarian turned rock n’ roll number cruncher. JessShe can trace her love for the written word back to age three, when she memorized Maurice Sendak’s Chicken Soup with Rice in its entirety. After her daughter was born in 2001, Jessica left the Manhattan library world and began working for her husband’s music management company. He offered her a part-time bookkeeping job so she could “stay home for the baby’s first year” and pursue her dream of writing. The baby is now eleven years old, and Jessica has been working her “full-time, sold-her-soul-for-rock-n-roll job” as Office Manager for veteran jam band moe. in their Buffalo, NY headquarters. She may have traded in books for bookkeeping, but the printed word is never far from her mind, or her heart.LOUDER THAN LOVE, her debut women’s fiction effort, is set to release September 17, 2013 through Berkley/Intermix (Penguin).

  18. Hi Diana,
Some I met while working, others by fluke and some just by being in the right place strategically at the right time!;) Living in NYC helped.

I will say that all my rockers I write are a figment of my imagination, but are also a manifestation of every rocker whose posters graced my walls as a teen, and whose music has filled my ears and soul. :)
