Carly's NY Times Bestselling SERENDIPITY series was such a hit with readers, she brings you back to the picturesque upstate NY town, where three siblings have grown up in the shadow of their proud and respected police chief father. But what do love, fate, and fortune have in store for the next generation of Serendipity's finest?
MIKE Always feeling like the odd man out in his family, Michael Marsden wanted to make it on his own. So he escaped Serendipity to become an undercover cop in Manhattan, where the Marsden name wasn't known. But Michael's independence is compromised when he returns home to replace his sick father as chief of police. Back in the shadow of his family, he's as lost and restless as ever, until he's challenged by someone he never anticipated.
CARA Cara Hartley is the Serendipity cop with whom Mike had a one night stand three months earlier. Neither expected anything more but fate has other things in store. When Mike returns as Cara's boss, the sexual tension between them is impossible to ignore - and the unexpected emotional connection continues to grow. But Cara's a small town girl while Mike has a wanderer's blood in his veins.
Together their chemistry explodes but ...Both are convinced a future together is impossible. Until Mike's real father's secrets come back to haunt him and he realizes there are some things worth staying and fighting for. Including Cara.

Crystal L's Thoughts:

I love Carly Phillips, and this book just reminded me of why I love her. Michael Marsden thinks he is incapable of settling down with a woman because it's practically in his DNA to avoid commitment. His biological father left his mother high and dry after he knocked her up. Mike figures he's only a step up from his father because he makes damn sure not to knock a woman up (or lead them on) before he's long gone from their lives. That is until he has a hot one night stand with Cara Hartley. For some odd reason he can't seem to get her out of his mind.

Cara is a police office on Serendipity's PD. She had a smokin' hot one night stand with the Police Chief's son, Mike, and would have moved on with her life, but Mike is back in town to act as the Police Chief on a temporary basis until his father is well enough to come back to work. Seeing the man who rocked her world everyday makes it kind of hard to forget about him.

Eventually the two give into their chemistry and pick up where they left off. Over time feelings get involved though. Will Mike leave Serendipity when his father is better? Or will he stay and commit to Cara?

This book was awesome. Besides the love story, and Mike's inability to stay rooted to one woman and place, you also have a back story in a cold case file and Mike's biological father. Everything flows really well, the characters are engaging, and I absolutely can not wait for the next book in the series! 5 Wine Glass Toast and a huge thank you to Carly Phillips for keeping me entertained as usual!
