Interview/Giveaway with Darcy Burke

Lexi: Raise your glass and give a toast to a woman who lives beside Oregon wine country! Welcome Darcy Burke!

Well perhaps you would prefer a cup of English tea over wine? I hear you are a sucker for all things British. Do you have a favorite British celebrity?
Darcy: Elizabeth I. Too dead? Emma Thompson is one of my favorite actresses (and she’s a great writer, too!) and I’m still a sucker for Hugh Grant. Ugh, don’t get me started on all the hot British guys! Clive Owen, Henry Cavill, Daniel Craig, oops, too late.
(I just couldn't resist putting in this picture of Henry Cavill...ahh Henry...)

Lexi: The British accent never hurts; pretty much melts me into a little puddle even if I am simply reading about a character with an accent. Have you always wanted to write historicals set in England?
Darcy: Totally agree on the accent. England is my preferred setting. I’m even writing a contemporary paranormal set there—I can’t leave it alone! I’ve thought of writing a Revolutionary War trilogy set in America, but I don’t know when I’ll ever get to it.

Lexi: Do you still enjoy reading historical romances now that you also write them? Or is it too much proper etiquette-tea-and corset overload?
Darcy: It’s interesting because that’s all I ever used to read. Now, I read a variety of romance and other genres (mostly YA, which isn’t really a “genre” per se, but the industry sort of defines it that way). I have a hard time reading historicals, especially Regency-set ones, while I'm in the middle of writing one.

Lexi: You are fairly new to the historical romance scene. What has surprised you the most upon entering the world of being a published author?

Darcy: I’m not sure surprised is the right word, but I’ve been absolutely blown away by the support and kindness of other writers. People have been so encouraging and so helpful. I really love the community of romance writers—no other job has given me such a wonderful group of co-workers!
Lexi: Congrats on your hot streak this year, three books and it’s only July! Thanks for stopping by. We hope to see some more releases from you soon!
Darcy: Thank you so much for having me! I hope to have a novella out in the early fall, so stay tuned!

To Seduce A Scoundrel

Quintessential debutante Lady Philippa Latham is determined to avoid scandal at all costs so that she may marry well. When her mother’s outrageous behavior threatens their family’s reputation, Philippa unwittingly follows her to a party no unmarried Society girl would risk attending. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Philippa is “rescued” from disaster by England’s most notorious scoundrel, which sets them both on a path to public and personal ruin.
Lord Ambrose Sevrin is infamous for ruining his brother’s fiancé and refusing to marry her. Content to remain among the fringe of the upper ten thousand, he is an intriguing enigma to London’s elite. Philippa thinks she’s met the true Ambrose—a gentleman who would fight to defend her and help her secure a husband before it’s too late. But he can’t be that husband, even for her. He won’t tolerate redemption—or love—for his crimes are far worse than anyone can imagine.

  1. Hi! Thanks for the interview :D I'm reading a lot of historical romance lately, and England is also my preferred setting. I'm sure it's the accent hehe

I haven't really attended to a party I needed to be rescued but that would a fantasy hehe :)

  2. I don't go to many parties so there has been no rescuing yet, but there's still time.
This book sounds amazing. Can't wait to read it.

  3. I went to a lot of parties in college, many to my husband's fraternity. Can you believe I actually asked to be his groupie at one party? (He played guitar in the band.) Clearly I needed rescuing! Lucky for me, my husband was/is the consummate gentleman and made sure I got home safe and sound. :)

  4. I've never been much of a party goer. I prefer to stay at home and read and nibble on chocolate.

  13. I've attended many wild parties in my "salad days" and I was rescued from being raped but my savior was my best friend's boyfriend. There fore the result was not romantic but I DEEPLY appreciated his heroism!!

Please enter me in the giveaway. Thank you.

  17. Barbara, that's hilarious! I've been to those parties too! (Save me, please! Anyone? Bueller?)

Julie, the wrong funeral?! Oh my goodness!! What a nice vicar. And, um, I think I might need to borrow that story. ;)

Fuzzy, yay for heroes!! Even the unromantic kind. :)

Shelley, my lips are sealed. Lisa, pass the chocolate, please. Guess I'll have to unseal my lips, lol.

Lori, sounds like we could trade some good stories along with Shelley, Fuzzy, and Carin.

Linda, I'm so glad you're enjoying the series! Two out by December. Book 5 will probably be March, and I can't wait. Jagger's story might be the most fun of all.

Thanks for sharing all the fun stories and for just visiting!

And I almost forgot to thank Lexi for the pic of Henry Cavill (Kaylyn thanks you too, I think!). Makes the interview, in my opinion. ;)

  22. Sorta...when I was about 17 my older brother threw a party at our house while my parents were out of town and I was out work. I came home to find about 30 of his closest friends drunk, high and doing just about everything you can imagine everywhere in the house from the dog bed to my bed!

I had to be back at work the next morning at 5:00 am and there was no way to sleep there without having people join me in bed so I had to be rescued from my own house!

  23. I have gone to a party knowing I would be leaving early making sure I had something to do that could not be put off so that I'd have an excuse to leave. LOL Wonderful contest, thank you so much!
