Seven deadly sins. Seven souls to save. And a man and a woman treading the lines of danger, desire and deliverance ...As the son of a serial killer, homicide detective Thomas DelVecchio Jr grew up in the shadow of evil. Now, on the knife-edge between civic duty and blind retribution, he atones for the sins of his father. Hired to monitor Veck is Internal Affairs officer Sophia Reilly, whose interest in Veck is both professional and arousingly personal. But Veck and Sophia have a common interest. He's Jim Herron, a mysterious stranger enlisted to save the soul of a killer's latest victim, one precariously hovering between heaven and hell. Before Herron's job is done, Veck and Sophia will be inexorably drawn into a battle of good against evil, where the risk is nothing less than total damnation.

Crystal Thoughts: Better late than never! ;)
J.R. Ward does it again! Envy is hands down, my favorite of the Fallen Angel series so far!

The first two novels in the series were somewhat ‘meh’ for me, they didn’t have the same development and intensity that I’ve come to expect from J.R. Ward’s writing but Envy blew my former opinion of the series right out of the water! Finally we're seeing more from the Angel side of things, pieces are coming together and we delve deeper into the main series arc. I have a feeling that it's only going to get better from here on out!

Veck was a great character and if you're a fan of the Brothers than you will definitely fall for this alpha dog. Veck and Reilly’s relationship seems impossible and gut wrenching for readers; you’ll find yourself glued to the pages rooting them on and getting lost in the chemistry that explodes between the pair.  And I absolutely love how some characters from BDB cross over, nothing too crazy where you feel lost of you haven’t read the wickedly awesome Black Dagger Brotherhood series, but fun for fans.
Jim, the main protagonist throughout the series, still struggles with his new Angel status but is finally coming into his powers. But his honor and integrity will be tested yet again in Envy and the fight with Devina reaches an explosive point. And we can’t forget Jim’s two rugged side-kicks, Adrian and Eddy, who will twist your heart as well in this edition.

A sexy, thrilling, wild ride that you won’t want to get off of, Envy is a must read for paranormal romance fans and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Rating: 4.5 Wine Glasses

Sexual Content: Reccommended for adults. Sizzling scenes between the sheets that I've come to expect from JR Ward and doesn't disappoint. One or two that are a bit disturbing as well with a nasty demon but they don't get too graphic.

  1. Ooo I'm glad to hear it gets better! I might pick up this series again. I read (and reviewed) the first book, but like you said, it just didn't have the oomph that we've been spoiled with from the BDB. I disliked the evil-feeling demon aspect with Devina too, so I skipped the second one. I'll put this on my TBR. Thanks Crystal!

  2. I bought this shortly after it came out and I still haven't read it. Mostly because the first two books were 'meh' for me as well. But your review has me eager to read it now. I love the BDB and this series gets me through the year of waiting for more brothers.

    Thanks!

  3. I agree with your opinion of the first two novels, but I really enjoyed this one. I'm now looking forward to next novel. I love J.R. Ward, and with this book I found myself as captivated as I always I'm with the BDB Novels.
    Thanks!

  6. I love how your "quickie" review is on a 560 page book.
Nice review, I haven't tried this series but love the brotherhood.

  7. LoL Lexi, the book was too long and developed for me to rehash the plot over again and the blurb states it nicely so hence the 'Quickie'. :)

The first two novels in the series seemed somewhat 'blah' compared to the awesomeness of the Black Dagger Brotherhood but I think the Fallen Angels have finally found it's groove with Envy. Emotional, captivating, and intense - I loved it! And like redzsm said, there are def. some tearjerker moments.

I've notice though from other reviews that most readers who loved the first two novels in this series didn't care for this one and those who didn't care for Crave & Covet loved Envy.
