Do you know 'Damien'? Raven makes that kid look like an angel. The "Of War"-series picks up in part I of this II-part sequel when Ares and Alena try to settle down on Olympus and await the birth of their son, Raven.Haunted by prophetic visions along with a body and mind that are starting to betray her, Alena struggles to enjoy what should be a happy and blessed occasion. The relentless hostility from the other Olympians make her yearn to be back on their cozy island home, far away from all the bickering and backstabbing that makes up Life on mighty Mount Olympus.
Knowing of Zeus' unabashed hatred for Alena and the Celts, Ares becomes convinced Zeus is causing these visions and the breakdown of Alena's mind. To appease his Father, the God of Gods, Ares enters into a wicked blood pact ensuring the safety of his wife and unborn son. A pact that could cost the God of War everything he holds dear.
However, once the boy arrives, it quickly becomes clear Raven may be the most powerful and cunning Olympian ever born. Outwardly despised by Zeus for his Fey blood and his filthy Celtic mother the seeds of rage and doubt are planted in the Raven's mind by a very willing Apollo.
As Zeus, Apollo, and Aphrodite plot against the new family, bit by bit the true pasts of the Olympians and Celts comes to light, the battle begins for Raven’s mind and soul and for the ultimate control of Olympus.

Five years later, Honor is an operative with the elite Last Chance Rescue organization and Seth is a desperate ex-cop searching for his missing niece—one of many young women who have mysteriously vanished from college campuses. Going undercover, Honor will attract the maniacal cult leader behind the kidnappings and find a way to work with Seth—while steering clear of the passion and need that’s just one touch away from explosion. And from the moment he sees her—and takes her in his arms again—this former undercover man will risk everything for one more chance with Honor.

Lexy’s Review: Midnight Dance by Lila DiPasqua

A Midnight DanceMidnight Dance by Lila DiPasqua
Fiery Tales #3
Paperback, 320 pages
Published August 2nd, 2011 by Berkley Trade
ISBN 042524198X
HISTORICAL ROMANCE
Inspired by the tale of Cinderella, Lila DiPasqua weaves a steamy historical romance that offers a glass slipper, a dangerous deception, and an impoverished beauty determined to find her handsome prince…and make him pay.
Born into wealth, Sabine Laurent and her twin sister lived a life of luxury, their father’s prestigious theater frequented by royalty and aristocracy alike. And Sabine dreamed of her own prince charming—the devastatingly handsome Jules de Moutier.
That was before the loss of her sister and her family’s fall from grace—a disaster Sabine blames on the Moutier family. Now, with her father’s death, she’s inherited his sizable debt and the responsibility of caring for his spoiled long-time mistress and her two wastrel daughters. But with the help of Sabine’s eccentric friends—the balance of her father’s acting troupe—she plans to get very close to her old infatuation, seduce the rake—and make away with a fortune.
Resisting Jules’s skillful mouth and tantalizing touch is not as easy as Sabine supposed. And soon she must decide whether her desire for vengeance is greater than her desire for her one and only prince…

Lexy's Thoughts:
What is it exactly about fairy tales that capture our interest? The beautiful damsel in distress, the handsome prince fighting for her love and rescue, or the magic that no matter who you are in life someone will look at you and think the world rests in your arms? Whatever the reason DiPasqua’s version of Cinderella immerse you in a tale impossible to put down.

Elisabeth Naughton (Interview & Giveaway)

Today I have the pleasure of having one of my new favorite authors, Elisabeth Naughton, joining us at Reading Between the Wines for an interview to celebrate her newest release, Tempted!

Welcome Elisabeth! For those who may not know much about you, give us a little background on yourself please.

EN: Thanks so much for having me here today! For those who don’t know me, I write hot, dark paranormals with a Greek mythology twist. The third book in my Eternal Guardians series, Tempted, just released from Sourcebooks on September 6, 2011. I live in western Oregon with my husband and three kids, and when not writing you can usually find me running, hanging out at a variety of sporting events or wasting time on Twitter.

DEMETRIUS—He’s the hulking, brooding warrior his fellow Guardians avoid. Too dark. Too damaged. And given his heritage, he knows it’s best to keep everyone at arm’s length.
Isadora is missing. The words pounded through his head like a frantic drumbeat. For her own protection, Demetrius had done all he could to avoid the fragile princess, his soul mate. And now she was gone—kidnapped. To get her back, he’ll have to go to the black place in his soul he’s always shunned. As daemons ravage the human realm and his loyalty to the Guardians is put to the ultimate test, Demetrius realizes that Isadora is stronger than anyone thought. And finally letting her into his heart may be the only way to save them both.
GoodReads

My Thoughts:
Throughout the first two novels in this series, Eternal Guardians, I was curious as to the reason behind the volatile emotions between Isadora and Demetrius. If you haven’t read the beginning of the series; Isadora is the Argolean princess and heir to the throne. In book one, Marked, she starts off being demure and pretty much lets others walk all over her. As the series progresses she goes from being a timid princess to a strong future queen. But one constant in her life for the last two hundred years has been the Argonaut Demetrius and the vile way he treats her. I mean, I would hide under my bed if I heard this warrior coming. Intimidating doesn’t even begin to cover how he comes off! Well in Tempted, we finally learn the reason behind his bad attitude.

But with eternity stretching out before him, he also can't fathom spending his life without the one woman who makes him feel most alive. Perhaps he's found his weakness, after all . .

He’s the leader of the Argonauts, an elite group of guardians that defends the immortal realm from threats of the Underworld. From the moment he walked into the club, Casey knew this guy was different. Men like that just didn’t exist in real life—silky shoulder-length hair, chest impossibly broad, and a predatory manner that just screamed dark and dangerous. He was looking for something. Her.She was the one. She had the mark. Casey had to die so his kind could live, and it was Theron’s duty to bring her in. But even as a 200-year-old descendent of Hercules, he wasn’t strong enough to resist the pull in her fathomless eyes, to tear himself away from the heat of her body.As war with the Underworld nears, someone will have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

My Thoughts:
I have seen Elisabeth Naughton’s work around a lot in the last year but never picked up one of her books until I received the third novel in this series, Tempted, in for review. So I decided what the heck, might as well start at the beginning and see what all the fuss is about right? My thoughts now; why did I wait so long to pick up this series?!?!?

Eliza Knight (Guest Post & Giveaway)

Morning lovelies! Joining us today is the author of A Lady's Charade, Eliza Knight, with a wonderful guest post and giveaway! You can see Lexy's review of A Lady's Charade *HERE*

Medieval Beverages

I really do enjoy curling up with a glass of pinot noir (Mark West is my wine of choice at the moment!) and reading a good book.  Which of course got me to thinking, what sort of drinks did they have back in medieval times?
I got to wine festivals several times throughout the year. Lucky for me in my town there are several wineries! One of which has a famous Mead, they sell to the Renaissance Festival, I also frequent… Yum!
So back to what sort of drinks they had in medieval times…

"...if you know what's good for you, you'll be wrapped up like a cocoon in that bed spread and asleep before I get out of here." But she didn't move, didn't so much as blink. He reached for the soap, and not taking his eyes off hers he worked up a lather between his hands. He smiled and slowly began to work the lather into his chest, down his belly, then lower...Sophia's eyes widened. He watched the heat rise in her cheeks. His hands slipped around his rock-hard d*ck. His body flinched in his grasp. His eyes narrowed as he slowly began to stroke himself. Sophia's big pouty lips parted, and then her gaze dropped to his stroking hand.

And that ain't even a quarter of the hotness going on in this anthology! *fans self* Make sure to pick this sexy read up for yourself on October 4th!

My Wild Highlander
"Och! Like biting, do you?" He nibbled her lower lip, caught it between his teeth, but not hard enough to draw blood. Fiery emotion burned in her darkened eyes, just as arousal burned inside him.
He released her lip and nipped her neck.
She sucked din a hissing breath, her whole body shuddering. Her hands fisted in his clothes and drew him closer. Aye, he loved her responsiveness. He tugged at her sleeve, baring her shoulder, and scraped his teeth over it, flicked it with his tongue.
Her skin was smooth, hot and alluring. These blasted clothes were in the way. He yanked up her skirts and slid his hand along the silk stockings to the top, over the softest skin of her inner thighs.

She is here joining us with a wonderful guest post, check it out and then see what Shadow had to say about According to Plan *HERE* Remember, all the giveaways close on the 25th and don't forget to check out all the authors visiting Secrets of a Book Lover for Erotic Romance Weekend!

Pondering the Muse

Where do ideas come from? How do you choose the names of your characters? Do you write about people you know? These are valid questions and sometimes as a writer you scratch your head and shrug. “I dunno. Thought about it while I ate my cereal in the morning.”
Creativity springs from the strangest of catalysts. For me, According to Plan started as a story about a young woman who inherits a mirror from her late Aunt Tillie, and a handsome Scottish Laird from fourteenth century Scotland is trapped inside. It’s up to our heroine, Rowena, to release him from his centuries old prison.
How in the world did I go from Rowena and Liam to Shelby and Tank? Good question. First let’s deal with Rowena.
It all started with a conversation flitting through my head where Rowena received a phone call from an annoying nerdy neighbour – Regis. It went like this.

What do you do when things don’t go According to Plan? For starters, you trick, deceive, and lie to the very person who ruined your best laid plans.
Welcome to the world of Shelby Stewart, P.I., who’s been hired to find Harrison Grant. To complicate matters further, her ex-partner, ex-lover, ex-everything Tank shows up looking for Harrison as well, albeit for a very different reason. Harry is the prime suspect in the grisly murder of a call girl, Lulu, in L.A.
That wouldn’t be so bad, but Tank plans on staying at Shelby’s house, and makes it obvious he’s quite willing to help her heat the sheets, again. Shelby knows that sex with Tank is dangerous, fast, and sometimes a little dirty. Now is not the time to become side-tracked. Besides, this job could launch her company into a whole new stratosphere, so it’s imperative she remain focused.
Frustration becomes Shelby’s newest partner as she makes plans to out maneuver Tank in their parallel quest. Tank, on the other hand, is always one step ahead of the game—and is not what, or who, Shelby thought.

A mini anthology containing: DEVON'S REDEMPTION by Eve Langlais Bethany lost her one and only love to a war overseas. As if that weren’t bad enough, a brutal attack and claiming by a Lycan makes her life a living hell. She lives only for revenge until the day love comes back into her life and promises to rescue her from her misery. However, the mate who forced her isn’t about to let her go. Devon died on the battlefield only to be reborn as a creature of the night. He fights to stay away from his one true love, but when he caves to his desire and sees her again, he discovers redemption is possible even for one who walks in darkness. CRUZ'S SALVATION by Stacey Kennedy Cruz understands torment. A mortal turned vampire in the war, he has suffered untold loneliness and despair. That is until he meets Kiara—a werewolf he’s forbidden to love. Though Kiara needs Cruz, and wants him forever, werewolves and vampires are bitter enemies. To make matters worse, her Alpha, also her father, suspects that Kiara pines for a mate. Mistaking her sadness for the longing she feels for Cruz, he sets out to give her all the happiness he can provide. Together, Kiara and Cruz will have to fight against the rules placed upon them to hold onto their love. But an unwanted visitor creates a complication neither of them planned for. Milo, Kiara’s chosen mate, has come to stake his claim. Now, not only are lives at risk, but hearts are threatened and dreams hang in the balance.
My Thoughts:
Once Bitten, Forever Burned was a very sensual and romantic anthology that made a quick little read by two great authors.

Erotic Romance Weekend - Sylvia Day (Guest Post & Giveaway)

And now we have the fabulous Sylvia Day joining us for Erotic Romance Weekend with a creepy but funny story on how her upcoming anthology with Maya Banks and Karin Tabke came about. She is also offering a giveaway at the end so stick around! Make sure to check out the great authors Kelly has visiting Secrets of a Book Lover too!

Sylvia DayAbout a year and a half ago, I went on a lovely writers’ retreat with my dear friends Maya Banks and Karin Tabke. We rented a quaint little home in Sonoma, CA. The moment we stepped into the house, we were faced with panoramic views. The entire living room and dining room were surrounded by walls of floor to ceiling windows. The setting was picturesque, with a beautifully landscaped garden and rolling green hills beyond that.

The first words out of my mouth? “Uh... where are the curtains?”

Erotic Romance Weekend - Bella Andre (Interview & Giveaway)

Celebrating erotic romance weekend today we have an interview & giveaway with best selling author Bella Andre! This fabulous lady writes some hawt romance that you must check out, enjoy!

Hi Bella, it’s a pleasure having you over today for our Erotic Romance event! J
Let’s start off by learning a bit more about you; can you please share with readers five fun facts about yourself?

1. I was a singer/songwriter and shared the stage with a lot of famous acts including Jewel and Santana and Crosby, Stills and Nash.
2. After a long day at the computer writing about my hot Sullivan boys, I like to sink down in my hot tub and stare out at the moon and the stars.
3. I'm a big believer in feng shui so I don't have trash cans in my home office. Every time I leave the room, I throw my stash of post-it notes and crumpled papers away in the kitchen.
4. When I'm writing a book, I'll listen to the same song over and over and over and over again. For my latest, FROM THIS MOMENT ON, I must have listened to the Glee Cast recording of I Feel Pretty/Unpretty a hundred times.
5. Even though I love books, I have a weakness for good television. I'm so excited that Castle is coming back this Fall. I have to know what happens after Castle says "I Love You" to Beckett!

Star is an Interstellar Council judge. Her position requires her to pass sentence, hunt down the offenders, and administer punishments. She’s considered one of the best, and if she plays her cards right, she just might become the first of the Hunter species to ascend to the Supreme Court–her life’s goal. When she’s ordered to hunt down a rogue Jacian ambassador in heat, the precedent is death. Sympathetic, but following the law she holds so dear, she pursues him with the intent to kill. Roark has entered his mating cycle. By Council law, he should be locked in a room with his pre-assigned partner for a week of non-stop sex that will get him through his heat. But he doesn’t want his pre-assigned. He wants Star, the luscious blonde judge whose compassion and intelligence has won his regard. The penalty for going rogue while in heat is death, but that’s a small price to pay for a week of sensual pleasure with the woman he desires more than anything.
Now the huntress is the prey, and when she’s snared by a man in heat, it’s passion that rules, not the law. Or does it? Roark still has his sentence, and his lover Star is judge, jury… and executioner.

My Thoughts:
Snaring the Huntress was a fun little read that was only about 50 pages or so.

Erotic Romance Weekend - Olivia Cunning (Guest Post & Giveaway)

Good morning everyone and welcome to our Erotic Romance Weekend event *woohoo* hosted by myself and Kelly at Secrets of a Book Lover! Every day from now until Sunday we will be featuring your favorite erotic romance authors at each of our blogs with great guest posts, fun interviews and awesome giveaways! To kick things off I have one of the coolest and my absolute FAVORITE authors joining us for a guest post and giveaway. Please give a warm welcome to Olivia Cunning and the Sinners groupies!

Since the first two books in my rock star erotic romance series, Backstage Pass and Rock Hard, were released, I've done a lot of guest blogs. I've been interviewed more times than I can count. The characters in my Sinners on Tour series have been interviewed--including all five members of the band (Brian-lead guitar; Sed-vocals; Jace-bassist; Eric-drums; Trey-rhythm guitar). I think it's time that Sinners' groupies were interviewed. Let's see what they have to say about their favorite fictional metal band. They should have an interesting perspective.

Olivia Cunning: Good morning, ladies. Take a moment to introduce yourself and tell us where you're from.

Darlene: I’m Darlene. I’m from Des Moines, Iowa.

Janet/Eiffel Tower Girl: I’m Janet. From Las Vegas. I work at the Paris casino there. Thanks to Sed, I think I’m permanently stuck with the nickname Eiffel Tower Girl.

Heather: You’re Eiffel Tower Girl?
