Ami isn't much for trusting strangers. She has a hard time trusting anyone. But she's no coward, and she's no pushover in the protection department either. So when she comes across a mysterious warrior taking on eight deranged vampires on his own, she doesn't hesitate to save his bacon. Of course, that was before she realized what one little rescue would get her into . . .
Marcus Grayden has been an immortal protector of humanity for eight hundred years, and at the moment he's not interested in backup. From the moment Ami arrives in his life, he can't deny that she's strong, smart, and extremely skilled at watching his back. But she's also destroying his protective solitude and stirring desires he can't bear to awaken. After all, whatever her secrets — how can she defeat death itself?

Ollie's Thoughts:

Night Reigns is the second book in the Immortal Guardian series by Dianne Duvall and continues a year and a half later where the first book left off with the discovery that Ami is somehow different.

The story starts off with the main premise of Marcus continuing to mourn the loss of his love Bethany and has turned to death and destruction of the vampires as his sole purpose of existence. Marcus's self-destructive nature has concerned Seth and he decides that it is time for him to have a Second and Ami he feels is just what he needs perhaps in more ways than one. When Ami meets Marcus she is surprised by the sensations she feels for him and doesn't know what to make out of them. All she knows is that whenever she is near Marcus she gets a tingling sensation throughout her body and has become acutely aware whenever Marcus is in danger.

As both Ami and Marcus fight side by side against the vampire hordes that seem more organized and more determined in destroying the Immortals, they start developing a strong attraction towards each other that leads to some very hot and intense scenes.

What I loved the most about Ami and Marcus was how they restrained themselves which led to an intense build up in passion resulting in a very wild and hard sexy time. This also led to some amusing interactions between Marcus and Seth which you will have to find out for yourself but what I can say is it will definitely leave you smiling.

There are some very interesting developments that transpired in this book in particular with Ami. The drops some hints as to the nature of what Ami is but before the reveal readers will find themselves riding an emotional rollercoaster as Ami and Marcus' relationship encounter various obstacles. Another interesting component that occurred in this book was the evolution of Bastien from an evil, crazy villain in book one to a very hot, sexy alpha beast. I was very intrigued by the development of his character and loved his interaction with Dr. Lipton. I can’t wait to see if anything happens between these two as Bastien's protective and alpha nature made him hot.

I have to say Night Reigns was a great addition to the series full of action, passion and surprises and tearjerker moments that kept my interest from beginning to end. I guarantee you will not be bored and will find yourself craving for the next book in the series. With that said I can't wait for book 3 because I want to know more about Seth and Ami (not going to say anymore you need to read Night Reigns to find out why).

  2. I have this book on my wish list and Ollie's review just made me even more hopeful that Santa puts it under the tree.

Enjoyed the review! I liked all the hints at mysteries both in Ami's background and the romance interests. Thanks for the post!
